Seeing that Claremont only have a few more days of being reining premiers and there seems to be a general consensus that it is the end of their dynasty because many of their players are moving on or retiring, I thought it would be fitting to play tribute to this club who have been by all measures a benchmark in the WAFL.
Consider this
In the years 2010 - 2013

Qualifying round : Claremont won 64 games, lost 15 , drew 1 for a winning percentage of over 80%
Top of the ladder in all 4 years
Finals: Played 8 finals during this period, won 5, lost 3

3 grand finals and 2 premierships

Winner of the Foxtel Cup in 2012, runner up 2011
Reserves premiers :2010,2011,2012
Their coach (Webb) led WA to their first win over Victoria in 22 years in 2013.

Tigers fans may be able to pick up something that I have missed.

What a record that has been and the envy of every other club no doubt. Many of their finest players have been developed through their junior system. Yes I know they have the advantage of having many of the top schools in their area, but they still have to coach them properly and have a system in place to make them want to hang around, which they generally have done

I looked back even further in their history and found to my amazement that since their famous 1981 premiership which broke a 17 year drought for them, they have only missed the finals 9 times in the 33 years since them. They have featured in 17 grand finals in that time for 8 premierships. They finished top of the ladder in 14 seasons. A staggering record and one that indicates to me that if they do slide a little next year, it won't be for very long. This is a club which has an ingrained winning culture.

don't forget Cl lost the 2010 GF by a point WITHOUT Chad Jones too mikeh....Chad was the leading goalkicker that year to with 85 goals.....saying that though don't see how Webb won coach of the year this year......CL went from premiers to 3rd spot....lost in straight sets.....whilst WP have come from not making the finals to a GF spot.....surely more deserving of a coaching award for Monagahan one would think......

also good to see Mark Seaby lack of loyalty has come back to bite him on the arse...obviously the fella wanted a ride on the CL juggernaut instead of helping WP back into the finals this year......reckon CL will struggle with some player losses next year and Seabs will be working hard helping CL make the finals next year......

oh well Mark a lesson learnt every day.... hey mate? :cheer:

Mike in my 33 years of following WAFL footy Claremont have barely missed the finals in ANY GRADE not just their League team.
And I for one would not be writing them off for next year just yet either!!

Bit rich having a crack at Claremont's coach Freezin, how'd East Freo's coach go....all 3 East Freo's sides made the GF in 21012 and NONE made it into the top 4 in 2013.....now that's an effort!!

Freezin wasn't having a crack at him just rightfully suggesting he was a dubious winner of the award
Can't believe what I'm reading here, some enemy supporters actually paying us some respect!
It has been a fantastic 30 odd years. Mossy returning as captain coach after winning a brown low in the mid 70s was the catalyst for a big shift in the clubs culture towards full professionalism which neesham really built upon heavily.
I suspect we are going to hit a road block rather abruptly in the near future. Mass retirements and not a lot of riches in the reserves doesn't augur well.

Jimmmmieee......where did I say Stavros deserved the award?.....just don't think Webb deserved it over Monagahan....... stop being so soft and sensitive....it aint a big deal......

..as for EF not making the finals.... come Sunday fella, Cl could easily win as many flags as EF did in 2013......NONE.... ;)......hopefully Seaby does the right thing and wears his old WP jumper to sundays game.....only if Mark....only if mate!!

I think the move to the Showgrounds could unsettle the club a bit for a few years as well TOO. But history has proven that the club bounce back quickly.

I was also amazed that Moynahan did not win coach of the year to be honest. From Outside the top 4 in 2012 to a potential premiership this year sounds pretty good to me

Whilst they have a good zone to get some talented colts' players to help fill the breach; I suspect that the 2014 season will see a massive drop for Claremont. Their reserves' team dropped out of the four when they were hit by injuries midway through the season and with the players they will lose through retirement, travel and movements to the devils incarnate they simply won't have the firepower to sustain their position.

I think that the big winner from Claremont's demise will be Perth for season 2014.

Just looked at www.claremontfc.com.au which confirmed 9 players who played against East Perth will retire. 2014 going to be a tough season.

Jimmy how is 2014 going to be a tough season for Cl?.....they have the coach of the year for 2013in Webb.....Cl have nothing to fear......truly they don't....

pity the Cl fans didn't get a taste of Jesse Hogan this year, reckon he would of gone pretty closeto beating Smith for leading goalkicker in 2013....
