Very interesting reading about Man City being banned from the Champions league after being found in breach of rules regarding financial fair play. In a nutshell it is designed to prevent ridiculously rich football club owners from over spending and obviously that makes it harder for other less wealthy clubs to compete.

So even though they don’t have salary caps they have some mechanism to control player spending. In essence it’s no different at any level of sport in the interests of fair play and competition. That’s exactly what’s been happening to our WAFL competition for the last 2 decades. An uneven playing field due to superior financial strength of one particular club and now we have a cashed up EP and the unlimited spending power of the two AFL reserves teams in terms of resources.

FFP Rules were brought in to stop Clubs going bust outspending to win the comp.

They must be able to balance the books and show the outgoings don't exceed expenditure.

That really isn't the WAFL's problem as Subi are very financial and have the assets to cover all their losses if they make any.

May well be if other clubs try and keep up though.

Yes but the WAFL has a salary cap whereas EPL and other comps in Europe don't. As you say Baz, EPL clubs can spend as much as they like if they can afford it...WAFL clubs can't.

Yep, there is no cap in EPL or Euro Football, as long as you can balance the books its all good..

Otherwise you end up with cases like Bury FC.

That’s the problem. It increases pressure on other clubs to spend more, money they probably don’t have.

Yeah but Salary Cap is there to equalize all that, Soccer has no Salary cap as previously pointed out.
