Fixtures are now out, and we are finally building into the 2025 C1 season and boy oh boy is it exciting or what!!!
There have been many rumours and chinese whispers out and about time to get some topics started to see the level of truth behind them.

Firstly, congratulations to Swan Athletic who comfortably handled the 2024 C1 competition to make the move up to B grade accompanied by the impressive Cockburn Lakes who's stay in C1 was short lived. We also say goodbye to the departing teams of Carlisle and Canning Vale who will be relegated to C2. Whilst Carlise are currently fixtured in C2 there are rumours that they may be withdrawing both the league and reserves team and only fielding an E gradeteam, can anyone shed any light to the situation?

Joining the competition this year we have both Bassendean who have made the slow trickle down from A grade and 2023 C1 premier Ballajura. On the way up 2024 C2 premier Gosnells who return back to C1 after a couple of years in the lower grade and we also have knights of Kwinana.

2025 C1 ladder prediction.

1. Melville
2. Kalamunda
3. Thornlie
4. Ballajura
5. Jandakot
6. Bassendean
7. Kwinana
8. HC
9. Gosnells
10. Mosman Park

Preview of the Teams.

1. Melville: After being in and around the pointy end of the season since 2020, I feel like this could be the year of the Rams. From all ears there are some good reports about an influx of quality midfielders whilst retaining majority of the senior team. Coupled with being back on their home deck in 2025 as opposed to the undulating paddock on the banks of the swan river.
Inaccuracy against a strong Kalamunda side leading to a 1-point loss in last year's prelim would be all the motivation required for a big 2025. It does though surprise me that a club that has been as strong as Melville that they no longer have a thirds team?
2. Kalamunda: A proud and strong club who much like Swan Athletic have incredible depth, culture and development to make a push for the higher grades. They were very stiff to be relegated from B grade at the end of 2023 after winning 8 games. Whilst I understand that they have great depth as a club, the big question is how they will fair this year without 3 of their top 5 goal kickers. Josh Harris, Joel Peters and Leo Lambert all departing the club for the Tiger sharks of Cervantes. Between the 3 departing they accounted for 81 goals in the 2025 season. With rumours about a latter half of the year oval renovation and fixtures confirming this rumour, will the Cougs be able to a home ground advantage if they are able to make the finals in 2025.
3. Thornlie: Another team who have been consistently strong in C1 for many years. Not as strong as the teams above them but will always put up a strong fight.
4. Ballajura: The 2023 C1 Premiers, 2022 they played finals. They should come back with some fire in the belly to make a stance and put teams to the sword. Look forward to seeing what they can bring in 2025. 4 wins in a very tough B grade competition last year is nothing to laugh at.
5. Jandakot: On field for majority of last year they were the youngest team with the inexperience showing at times with their inability to assert consistency on a week to week basis. Another year older and with a strong colts and reserves teams over the past 3 years I can see a rise in the success of their league team.
6. Bassendean: A drop from the lofty heights of A grade with rumours of mass departures of the club has slipped them down at 6th. Happy to be proven wrong and I hope they can be a great addition to our competition.
7. Kwinana: Whilst they weren't able bring home the choccies last year they have recruited well in the offseason with league players from Baldivis, Cockburn Lakes and Warnbro joining the Knight. Can they make the push for finals??
8. Hammersley Carine. Whilst they did manage to finish 6th in 2024 it was with an 8 and 10 record. Narrow margin wins against both Kalamunda and Melville prove they have the cattle to go with the best, they just need to figure out how to do it on a regular basis.
9. Gosnells: I feel bad that I haven't placed the eventual premier higher on the list but with Chinese whispers over losing many players to Cockburn Lakes, only time will tell to see what they are capable of.
10. Mosman Park: Disappointing year in C1 in 2024 after the 2023 premiership in C2. Can't see them turning things around in a much stronger competition.

good luck to all in 2025.
