After 18 weekends of footy the C1 home and way season has now concluded and what an exciting year that we have had.

Commiserations to both Canning Vale and Carlisle who will depart and be relegated down a grade. Hopefully the two very proud clubs will return to the healthy and competitive C1 competition in the not-too-distant future. Once again, familiar teams will be returning down to C1 in 2025 with 2023 C1 premiers Ballajura and 2019 C1 premiers Bassendean relegated from B grade. Time to wait and see who will be joining us from the grade below.

Congratulations to the Swan Athletic football club who has managed to not only hold onto top position in the C1, but they have also secured top spot in the C1 reserves, Ian Dargie colts and E2 men's grade. It is a testament to the quality and culture of their football program and community. I imagine many of the senior team will venture out to the 6164 to watch the battle between Melville and Cockburn hopefully doing their homework to gain a tactical advantage to whoever emerges victorious.

Onto our first week of finals.

Cockburn vs Melville: 2:30 Anning Park
Cockburn held the upper hand heading into round 18 with the ability to select their ideal opponent that they wished to face in the first round of finals. Knowing that Melville had recently beaten them it did not persuade their decision, and they came out firing with an 86 to 43 dominating effort over Kalamunda. Melville have been chipping away in 4th and 5th position for majority of this year and snuck into to third position thanks to Cockburn's win over the cougs. With Saturday's weather predicted to have a high chance of precipitation, potential line ups for both teams will come into effect in this exciting affair. Whilst Cockburn has numerous avenues for scoring which has been evident this year, Melville play a very negating man on man style of footy which should fare well in the final's atmosphere. I am going to hitch my caravan to the Rams to come out with a marginal win of 2 goals over the Warriors. Whilst I won't be tipping a flag favourite yet, my crystal ball is leaning towards 2 straight wins for Melville to book a spot at Steel blue oval and a week off.

Kalamunda vs Thornlie: 2:30 Ray Owen Reserve.
With either team managing to secure a win in the 2 home and away season battles this should be an elimination final worthy of a PFL broadcast. The midfield unit for Thornlie with Bailey and Cooper smith and CO verses Joshua Harriss, Trent Pottinger and Co and two of the best forwards in the comp in Andrew Tomich and Jackson Bowen it is going to be a Sunday Spectacular.
Caravan will be securely hitched to Kalamunda. It will all come down to the numbers here, by advanced stats (1502 for and 946 against) will put Thornlie(1104 for and 1167 against) away by 4 goals.

Bring on Saturday!
