Hi guys,

Hope you have all enjoyed the off-season. Going to be a very interesting year of football and good luck to all! I would hate to see a team get relegated due to numerous Covid interrupted rounds so fingers crossed we can get through some what unscathed.

On to this weeks match ups.

Thornlie Vs Canning Vale @ Thornlie

With Thornlie getting the chocolates in both meetings last year by 5 and 4 goals, I believe they will be too strong for the cougars in round one especially at their home ground where they play very well. I have heard there have been a few new blokes running around out at Thornlie Oval, unsure of quality but if even a handful are decent the depth could carry them through to a finals position.
Thornlie by 4 goals

High Wycombe Vs Carlisle @ High Wycombe

Going to get a great indication of where HW stack up in C1 after week 1. Carlisle a final playing side in 2021 will be hoping to get the year off to a winning start over newly promoted HW. HW scoring a ridiculous amount of points in 2021 and a stack of new cattle at the doghouse in 2022, they’re already being predicted as Gf winners for this season. Should be a ripper game.
HW by 6 goals

Kingsley Vs Jandakot @ Kingsley

Jandakot coming of an even season in 2022 with an 8-8 record would be determined to maybe win 1 or 2 more in 2022 to reach finals. Kingsley on the drop back from B will bring a stack of experience and always seem to have a well drill team who follow their GP perfectly. I would expect Kingsley to win this one in what could be closer than some may think.
Kingsley by 2 goals

Willeton Vs Hamersley Carine @ Willeton

If the game had odds id suspect HC to be the underdogs here and I would be happy to be in their corner. Willeton have been around the mark for a number of years now unless they have picked up some quality over the off-season I believe they will be a mid table fringe finals team again. I think HC will enjoy this coming back to C1 after their quick promotion then relegation in 2019. They look like a much better outfit now and will be finals bound for me in 2022.
HC by 4 goals

Kalamunda Vs Ballajura MOTR @ Kalamunda

If you got paid this week and can afford the trip out to Ray Owen Reserve, this one should be a cracker. Kalamunda looking to go one better than 2021 where they were held out by gf runner ups Melville. Ballajura looking to brush off the relegation from B1 and get back there where they had 3 good years, some would say unlucky but that’s football. This one shapes up to be a good contest with the W very important for both teams going forward.
Ballajura by 2 goals

Good luck to all teams and remember if you’re feeling sick, stay home, we want to keep this comp as fair as possible with as many teams coming out 100% each week.

cheers.

Hi Sugarkane, round 1 always tricky one, where all my tips are completely opposite to yours. Such a tight comp will be interesting to see how it plays. More than willing to be proved wrong haha

I've got:
Thornlie
Carlisle
Jandakot
Willeton
Kalamunda

Well I believe it’s safe to say that CV surprised a few people with an absolute belting of Thornlie. Wonder if that has more to do with CV recruiting well or thornlie losing any?

High Wycombe easily accounted for by Carlisle, maybe the jump between grades is bigger than many expected.

In saying that though Hamersley Carine took care of Willeton who have been middle of the table for the last few years so could be a big year for either of these teams.

Jandakot beat Kingsley out on their home deck, by the score line looking to come home strong late

Kalamunda beat Ballajura, the other relegated B side by a few goals.

Always hard to tell so early in the season who’s going to end up where so hopefully end up with a highly competitive competition!
