Great write up KTB, agree that Stirling seem to have really taken it to another level this year and would be elated with their season to date.
Roleystone have been fantastic and if not for a bit of a hiccup against Bayswater away, they’d be undefeated as well. Have some tough away games in the back end of the season which could put them to the test.
a few good recruits from surrounding clubs and an ability to play their small ground better than just about anyone else in the lower grades of amateurs, makes them a genuine threat going into finals.
Noranda have been fantastic this season and Frank has done a monumental job after the position the club had themselves in last year. I expect them to hold onto their spot and get the all important double chance come finals.
Forrestdale have been good, but not as good as I’d expected them to be this year and not on the same level they were at in 2021. Their reserves have some serious talent and it’s curious why a few aren’t up in the 1s, where they should be.
Osborne Park have been a huge surprise packet this year and after a horrible opening game defeat to Noranda, have put some good wins on the board.
They currently sit in 5th spot with 4 points and a game in hand on Rossmoyne.
Rossmoyne have been a big disappointment this year, after being a consistent team in this grade for a number of years. While I’m not sure if it’s injuries, fifo or the loss of a few guys back to the country, I did expect more from them. They seem to have lifted a gear in recent weeks, so I expect them to throw everything into the back half of the season and stake a challenge for a finals spot.
Bayswater have probably gone about as well as we would of expected, though have had a couple of surprise results that no one would of predicted. To go from knocking off Roleystone one week to getting rolled by Armadale just a few weeks later.
I don’t see them mounting much of a challenge in the back end of the year, but they may cause a headache or 2 to a few teams.
Armadale have shown a lot of improvement this year and were even able to take a very respectable win in c4 for the first time since 2017. They’ve also been able to keep 2 sides on the park, which is a credit to those at the club.
a couple of heavy losses in recent weeks might have dented the confidence a little bit, but I hope for the clubs sake they can keep the positive performances up in the back end of the year.
Yanchep have had a bit of a rough year since making the return to the 2 team competition. Unfortunately it isn’t going to get a whole lot easier this weekend, so I hope the club can keep together and look for a strong end to the season.
