What a tremendous well deserving player to get inducted, well done Bernie and family.

It is called the Australian Football Hall Of Fame not the “AFL” Hall Of Fame!

I think it's a very good honour to finally bestow upon Bernie for some of the most remarkable feats of goalkicking - and very good for his kids to see their Dad's name chalked up alongside the immortals forever.
You were a champion & legend of our club Bernie and I'm stoked you've been recognised this way mate

Sadly passed away at a relatively young age, just 70 I think, in early 90s.

Like many of his generation had a career interrupted by WWII as he joined the Army and was sent away. Had he not lost those 4 years his records would of been even more remarkable.

Just about every single shot on goal Bernie Naylor used the torp even from on the boundary line when required to do so , if it hadn't been for the World War 2 drafting Bernie would have set closer to 2000 goals given his average of over 5.3 goals per 195 games of footy that he played in.
In the game against Subiaco where he bagged a still Australian senior record 23 goals - he passed off twice and didn't lead due to cramps late & I'm told he probably would have ended up with 30 or more in that match
Bernie used to read the ball from the half back line & knew exactly where the ball would end up & where to time his lead to every single time without fail
And it didn't matter whether the ball was wet or dry the torpedo punt method deployed meant he didn't miss many & there is talk he practiced by standing still on one leg repetitively drilling a flat torp time after time to the same spot for hours
He & Steve Marsh had an almost telekinetic relationship onfield it is still stuff of legend at SFFC
Bernie Naylor was quite simply a freak of nature in the forward line there was no stopping him & even Ray Schofield got flogged time after time
