Saddened to hear of the passing of 1980 Premiership player Geoff OBrien.

Deepest sympathy to his family

Sad news Dwert, I remember Geoff O' Brien well he was a quick wingman back in the late 70s & early 80s for SF.
Played a good game against my beloved SD in that GF.
RIP Geoff.

I played juniors against Geoff O'Brien...a good player and nice guy. From memory he played for Willagee with Jamie Lockyer but could be wrong.

"Obi" was one of the most reliable , loyal & very much under the radar clubmen you would ever wish to pull on your club's jumper.

Number 38 is forever etched in my list of memories , Mal Brown loved this bloke , Paul Vasoli & Simon Outhwaite for the way they selflessly gave their all to support their mates , what a good foil Obi was for Noel Carter

Geoff you can give Maurie a call & have that flag reunion beer now mate

Yep got the sad news today , spoke to geoff at the club the day after the big win in 80,

Thats two now gone from 80.

Geoff did play with Jamie at Willagee. They were also members of the 1974 Melville SHS team that beat Scarborough SHS for the State SHS premiership. Other members of the side were John McBride (SF), Wayne Cormack (EF) and Geoff Nugent (EF). Vale Geoff!
