Looks like the City of Fremantle have put in a proposal for East Fremantle to move into Fremantle Oval with South Fremantle. Not exactly suprising but it seems the move is now being pushed hard and it seems a logical & smart move. There should be a football match at Fremantle Oval every week. It has history & atmosphere and will benefit both clubs financially.

With the dockers moving out soon, it was inevitable the Sharks would be co-tenants.

Might be time to try a few double-headers down there too. Would create a great atmosphere and its something different.

Jardine how do double headers enhance the attendances? Most will watch whichever club they follow and either arrive later or leave after the first match. Also, what happens to the colts and ressies? Where are they played and what about the supporters who want to watch all three grades?

Notwithstanding the above, I have no problems with East Freo moving to Freo Oval; one would think that it would be to the advantage of both clubs in sharing costs etc.

just a thought that's all. you get 2000 at one game normally, perhaps 2000 at another, the add the spice of seeing 2 games for the price of one and perhaps you get another 1-2000. Having 5-6000 at Fremantle Oval would be a great atmosphere. But it probably wont happen. Its just something different, god knows the comp needs a change here & there these days. Spark some interest in a flagging comp. Nothing to lose trying it as a one-off. It wont kill anyone.

Certainly is mate, Confirmed by FCC today , a steering commitee has been formed by both counsels on the plan.

Makes total sense, and something I tipped some while ago.

Great to see some progress.

I think its great for WA footy to have two iconic clubs at the same ground. And the added hatred for each other really brings a punch to the freo area. Especially if both clubs have good seasons and become topline sides again. I would like to see WP return to Leederville with EP. Imagine the rivalry between these two whose dislike for each other borders on the frightening. But cant see WP leaving South Geraldton anytime soon. Subi would be a great fit at the re-vamped Claremont Oval with the Tigers. Apparently it will be a fantastic venue once completed. And Subi is just up the road from Claremont anyway.

However these are things that should have been done 10 years ago.

At first I hated the idea but now I'd welcome it if it means all derbies will be at the one ground and it will be easier for those who have to catch public transport. As for the double headers well I wouldn't mind watching 2 league games for the price of one. I have mates who support East Freo & some support other sides so I wouldn't mind sitting back with my mates & watch another 2 sides play.

This was always going to happen.

Best move financially for both clubs.

Demolish existing clubrooms and build one new facility with separate clubrooms and change rooms for each club.

Notre Dame will take over FFC premises when they vacate.
