JD resigned in the end , after revealing some health issues which I believe he is dealing with still

The story goes Claremont approached JD to take over from McPhee - Hasleby apparently had the Claremont number after JD knocked them back

But Raitt wanted Hasleby so the rest is history

Not aware of any such policy regarding SF playing their colts higher but going on past years they tend to elevate them through the ressies and then league after the state 18's are done with.

I've mentioned it before but I'm positive that was a league (WAFL) rule a few years back??

Loersch (sp) is the tall fella at FF for SF colts you are referring to. Just learning the game really so he is getting plenty of instruction playing at colts level.

We have also been in the situation over the last 4-5 years that we have had quite a few fellas in the state 18's squads which really rips the guts out of our colts side for nearly 2 months during the middle of the season. To elevate a few more during this time would be a liability to the colts team as a whole.

I dare say, just as in the previous years, players who show promise will get a crack at senior footy before the year is out. We have seen Adam Carter, Blaine Johnson, Sam Lowrie, Jacob Martinez, Haiden Schloithe, Thomas Vandeleur, Brendan Verrier, Steve Verrier, Rhys Miller, Shane Kersten and Brandon Matera over the last few years be given the chance to play senior footy in the second half of the year.

Would rather the experienced league players find something instead.

no worries Dogman.

just out of interest Blakely and Anderson have played league all year for Swans as if they are considered in the league teams best 22 then they can play up.
on Saturday from the colts Swans had Daniels play league and another 5 up in reserves.

winning league games has to be important than colts flags at the start of the year surely.

Agree re league flags being more important for sure. I spose SF are pretty young right now and have 6-7 players playing league footy who have come from our colts side over the last 2 years already. Sokol, Kelly, Matinez, Banks, Maskos, Verriers to name some off the top. Bailey Matera has been playing reserves most of the year instead of colts and a few more too.

I reckon you may see a few of the 18 boys come straight in to the league side pretty quick over the next 2 weeks.

In hindsight we should have let Claremont sign him up and gone for a search for an experienced coach , I don't think Paul was ready at that time

Would make a decent AFL assistant (probably needs to do that to gain skills I reckon)

The basic ingredients are here , but yeah at some point soon a line will have to be drawn in the sand

yeah but then Claremont would of had the cattle to make Hase look like a great coach southerner.....SF simply don't have the cattle......I don't see McPhee weaving wonders with Sandringham like he did with Cl....ditto with German with Casey, Williamstown and now Coburg.....has he weaved his 'magic' with them like he did with Subi?.....Watters is another.....luck of the draw I reckon...

one does have to pat Harding on the back for what he has achieved with SD so far.....then again he had better teams on paper and achieved less.....be interested to see what SD achieve for the rest of the year and over the next 12 - 24 months...to really put Hardings coaching to the test....
