The South Fremantle Football Club is pleased to announce the one-year extension of Todd Curley’s coaching contract, securing our long-term coach until the end of the 2024 season.Curley will enter his tenth season in charge at the Kennel, and in doing so, becomes South’s longest-serving Coach in history, surpassing Hall of Fame Legend Clive Lewington.South Fremantle Head of Football Charlie Burke said the Club was delighted to extend Curley’s contract as South looks to respond from 2023 and quickly rise back up the WAFL ladder."It is terrific to be able to secure Todd’s tenure for a further season, off the back of a challenging year for our football club” Burke said.

“His commitment and drive, coupled with his ability to develop and support young players in their early WAFL journeys, are major assets and requirements for a modern-day coach”.

“Todd is the right person to see us back in finals contention in season 2024” Burke concluded.

Curley looks forward to the future ahead and remains as motivated for success as at any other time in his esteemed coaching career.“I’m incredibly honoured to continue coaching the South Fremantle Football Club”, Curley said.

“The relationships that exist across our whole program and broader club reflect a genuine alignment across all areas of the Club”

“We are determined to bounce back strongly on field in 2024, it is a challenge that myself, the coaching staff and all our players are ready for”

“I wish to thank my loving and supportive wife Paula, and children Thalia and Aiden, for their encouragement in allowing me to pursue a passion and role that I love”, Curley concluded. 

My thinking Souths have made the right move with the re-appointment
Apparently Curley will become the clubs longest serving coach. They've been through the wringer this season and hopefully they can build for season 24 with the good group of players across there with no impediments. I do hope Ah Chee and Higgins decide to play on next year with the wealth of knowledge and experience they both have.

Another wasted year, start fresh with a new coach that can start the development journey with the players that are committed long term to the club. 
We can only hope that his mate Longmuir and Fremantle come knocking for a coach at the end of the year and takes up the offer. Don't let the door hit you on the way out TC I am hoping.    

Bit hard to blame Curley and or the players for this season, your incompetent/corrupt admin & committee are to blame. Not much to play for after the salary cap debacle.

or get some heavy lifting done by giving a 10th year

Surely no club will sign him? There’s no AFL club that will give him a go. Tells me what I need to know. 

Peter Sumich is far too cuttingly honest & real to be anything in the VFL - Victorian league clubs do not like coaches that come out with truths or who expose things as they really are.
speaking personally I wouldn't mind him back at South for a second stint as our next coach
