I agree completely...as I posted before it was bizarre seeing their big names watching on from behind the fence instead of playing in the last scratchy before round 1.

Freezin wrote: Rud, interesting you were planning on going to the derby before the Subi result, probably a decision influenced from the competitive performance v Cl the week before...understand jumping ship if a full strength EF side scored 2.6 v Subi....but it wasn't....would like to think a full strength EF can push SF deep into the game on Sat....be good for the club, fans and comp if they could.....

I went to the Claremont match the week before, thought we dominated in parts, but usual problem of finding it hard to score. Didn't go to the Subi match, but on a fine sunny day, to score only 2 goals, I have to admit its damn depressing, even with the players that were out. I doubt that even those players playing would of made little difference to the score line.

6 or even 7 goal loss, sure, but 75 points and 2 goals for the match? Jesus Wept!!
no thanks…

I guess EF should of done what Perth did v SD and have an 8 man bench then BC....I guess Bill took the approach of giving KF back ups in Bonomelli and Bailey a crack v Subi defence...development opportunity v the best defence in the comp... obviously neither player will be lining up at FF and CHF v SF league this weekend....as Loersch and Strnadica, if fit, are EF first choice KFs.....

Scratch matches are scratch matches Freezin, each club can do as they please as there is no premiership points riding on it. Pretty sure Swans had 23 on their list and pulled one out of the grandstand when after Georgie boy booted same as your sides goal tally in the second quarter then did a hammy.

The previous week we played 6 in the bench, WP played 8 but one of our ruckmen also played ressies and backed up in the league. It's all about getting as much time into players as possible I would have thought.

DD totally agree..heard last night those EF rested were carrying some niggles, so with no points,on offer, the decision was to rest them, pump game time into the back up boys against the best team in the comp...each to their own as you say.
