Well I guess it was only a matter of time after the factory closed in 2017, before they decided it just was no longer staying in the market with the badge, poor sales just didnt make it worth it.

People just aren't buying the cars they make anymore.

Following on from the sale of Vauxhall to Renault, making confirmation of the right hand drive exit for GM,

I was a bit surprised they didnt try to stay and sell the Chev brand, but it just isnt worth running.

A sign of the times Baz. The rise of China and other Asian manufacturers and the popularity of SUV’s have killed the Commodore off, big Japanese utilities have killed off the ute as a work horse and V8’s are sheer luxury.

There’s a 6 - 8 month waiting list if you want a RAV4 Hybrid. That’s the way it’s going.

Yep, very much so. People flocked to the SUV as you say,

Its amazing I don't think I know a single person that owns a Holden now.

The Big Question locally - is the future of Fremantle Icon SHACKS Holden is now up in the air. amazing they lasted this long, but will probably be the last straw for them.

Gee I spent some time getting parts down in there at the under croft side street Spare Parts counter, you used to have to line up on a Saturday morning there in the 80s. Now its a closed I think.

What a bunch of arseholes the GM board of directors are in Detroit. They have fleeced millions of the Australian Government. 2.17 billion since 2000.Broke an agreement to reaccess local manufacturing in 2022.Replaced the VFII with a fwd Euro 4 cylinder to try and milk the Holden+Commodore name.Stopped Holden from building a Landcruiser rival in the 1990,s.Funds from the Au government that went back to Detroit. Crewman another they canned.4 door utes are our top selling vehicles.
And last from these warped US board of directors. The Holden name not up for sale it just disappears from history.Bunch of W~n~k~e~s.If they think they can move all manufacturing to China. We will see what President Trump saids about that.

I only drove past Shacks Holden on Friday and noticed that it looked like it was either downsizing or moving as there was only a dozen cars on one side of the lot and the other side next to the old Woolstores side was completely empty.

So let's get down to it. How many Holden's have you had?

My first car was my Pop's Holden LC Torana. Sadly he ended up with Alzeimers. It was your stock standard 173 cc, three on the tree, bench seat, mustard brown colour.

After that a HX van that was turned into a Sandman kinda. Not long after bought my uncles HZ panel van for work.

We had an EK Holden ute that was the farm workhorse. Used to hunt roo's in it.

Had one of the early model Commodores in the early 90's but that was just a bunky.

My last Holden I saved the best til last. Bought a Holden Berlina VY 2004 I think. Was an absolute beauty and had Gas injection fitted. A beautiful car. That's it for me.
