Adelaide coach Don Pyke has stepped down as coach of the Adelaide Crows. Obviously knew what was coming and he was going to be under the pump to hang on. Is that No 5 this year? That must be a record number of axings or departures in one season. IMO he did the honorable thing with 2 years to run but no doubt he would have negotiated a handsome payout and done the club a favour in the meantime. He won't be walking away empty handed that's for sure.

Good AFL players dont always make good coaches, he had obviously lost the playing group.

BC sounds like a perfect fit, an underachieving coach for an underachieving club.

Nah I think it's down to Suma and Longmiur.

TOO: I remember him coaching your beloved Tigers. Why was he unpopular?

Pyke was in trouble late in the Crows season. And was desperately trying to lure Peter Sumich as his Assistant coach. The sacking of Lyon put Suma interest elsewhere. Wonder if Suma has the Freo job.Which was the last straw for Pyke.Who also tried to get Schofield from Subi last year.
Ark I can remember being introduced to Pyke at the Ascot races at least 15 years ago.He just turned his back and walked away.I would say the bloke is full of him self if he's still the same.

Maybe Adelaide will snatch Longmuir from underneath Fre’s Nose?

If so, obviously not "a chip off the old block". I played baseball with his old man, Dr Frank, at Nedlands many years ago. Could not have met a nicer bloke.

I’m not exactly sure Ark, I had a mate who had played a fair bit of colts and reserves with the playing group at the time and he simply told me the players were pretty happy to see the back of him. Mr Serious I think.
