One of the TV legends from the 70s and 80s, ABC War Correspondent with the ABC, 4 Corners , This Day Tonight and A Current Affair when it was a serious political programme, great interviewer and supporter of AFL Football in NSW.

Who could ever forget the GST Cake Question...

What a great shame and loss. Only 76 and had been battling throat cancer the last few years. Not a good way to go and especially someone who used his voice to great effect. I only mentioned that famous interview the other day Baz. It wasn't just the question but the way he asked it with the stare and the follow up questions. He destroyed the coalition and John Hewsons political career right there. Dr Hewson, if you are having trouble explaining it to me, how are you going to sell it to the Australian people? The look on Hewson's face was tv gold like he knew right there he was screwed.

From memory the Willesee's grew up in Perth.

Yes Mate, all true, and yep WA Family , brother was on Ch 9 year for many years, Terry..

I think he played for West Perth as well.

Yeah I think he was pretty passionate about the Sydney Swans from memory. That would explain it.

Pretty sure he played league footy for Gosnells in the old South Suburban Murray League in the early 60's.

He played for Gosnells in 1962. Ive attached a team list from the Football Gazette showing M Willisee in number 20.There is a T Flynn which I think might be renowned football commentator Tim Flynn.
