Very sad to hear of the passing of Travis Varcoes sister,Maggie who collided with a team mate in a womens grand final on the weekend and died in hospital today. Tragic news. RIP Maggie.

Here here terribly unlucky for the poor girl playing the game she loved and a tragic loss for Travis on the eve of finals and his family. Condolences to the Varcoe family and I dare say players from both sides will show their respects and there should be a minutes silence before the game.

No one should die from a footy related incident/accident. It's a sport FFS!

Yet you still see mad buggers running around in the lower grades/leagues, hell bent on inflicting as much damage as they can.

Its my firm belief that more women will die playing Australian Rules football, whilst I know deaths have occurred in mens game ( one very near my home at a suburban ground most recent and of course the Late Ron Doig SFFC in 1930s ) they are very rare. I don't think womens bodies are meant for the game.
