PN -- good topic

The short answer is yes they will.
It is an unwise move
Fear not, the Russians have always run away from fighting the West, this will be no different.

Putin creatted this problem because he promissed Obama that he would make the Syrians get rid of their chemical weapons -- it is funny, because as people would know, he often accusses the West, rightly in some circumstances, of being two-faced.

It looks as if Mrs May is going to use the Queen's powers to avoid consulting parliament on the issue. This, I am afraid, is also an unwise course to take.

Ark I'm pretty sure Syria has been a Soviet/Russian Allie since Stalins time since the 50's.

gtr: yep, all the Russians have done is prop up an ally -- the legal government of Syria -- against an insurrection which the West has been stupid enough to support.
