Federal Labor will establish a commission to look into possible and systemic corruption in the federal government and public service if it wins the next election, Bill Shorten says.

Unless Turnbull gets onboard with this - and he may be forced to do so if he bothers to read the public tea-leaves - a good reason to vote Labor next time around.

Probably more to do with this laughable outburst from the Beetroot in an Akubra:

Barnaby Joyce: federal Icac unnecessary as Senate has anti-corruption powers

There is a very level-headed and responsible reply from ex-senator Ludlam here:

politics aside I do agree that it's a sensible idea....what have they got to hide? and as for public servants, you only have to look as far as our former employer jack and the current commissioner under long term suspension and being investigated for organising a plum job for his girlfriend..

The UNIONS of course. He should include them in his proposed watchdog.

There is already a federal body set up to watch (almost) exclusively the unions - or have you forgotten about the Registered Organisations Commission already?

I find it ridiculous that he of all people talks about an anti corruption watchdog. Reminds me of the old saying, if he sat down and ate a prawn, it would be cannibalism.

Fark me......... Abbott spent $46 million on a Royal Commission with the main intent of getting Shorten, and blow me down with a feather, Shorten comes out of it smelling sweeter than Dyson Heydon. :woohoo:

C'est la vie.
