Just hitting the news services. Drew Found by his wife last night passed away in his sleep.Remember Drew as a young Journalist covering Wafl Footy and WA Shield Cricket in the 1970's.
Progressed to become the Host of the Winners.Was currently working for Fox Sports and with Brad Hardie covering Wa away Afl games.RIP.

Very sad day mate! What was the exact year was he here doing WAFL? I knew he did a stint in Perth but not sure what year? I want to tribute him on Lost WAFL

I remember him as a kid Swandog with the Jackson 5 hair do.He graduated sports journalism in 1966 aged 18.ABC sent Drew to Perth after the 76 Montreal Olympics.Drew hosted the Winners in 1980....1976-1979.As a radio Wafl commentator.
Back in that era a lot of Victorian sports commentators use to bag the Wafl.Drew allways spoke fondly of the Wafl comp even as the winners host.

A Sunday Night ritual in my household was watching The Winners and also Countdown every week, Drew is even more iconic than Molly in my books.

A very talented commentator of many sports. Those who knew him said he was a top bloke. Like everyone else the Winners was a ritual for me every Sunday in the 70's and 80's

Terrible news, for mine one of the best going around, whats more a link to the good old days of the VFL of the 70s and 80s, gee was just tuned into him last Saturday on 6pr as he called a game and was full of nostalgia.

Was Perth Based for many years in tne WANFL 1970s glory days, this carried through to his knowledge of WA players in VFL later.

Who could forget the Winners, iconic show, his voice had a certain candour and resinance, ABC trained in the old school, great class.

RIP Drew , not many left with your historical knowledge.
