the fact we have so many CEO's across the metro area on huge wages for such small areas is a joke and money could be better used in the community.

Local Government would be the biggest waste of space bureacracy there is, urgent reform is needed as you say mark, way to many on the gravey train, Melbourne and Sydney went through and got rid of a heap years ago. Have a look at the myriad of little pricipalities in the Western Suburbs, nimby tossers half of them. Shire of Peppermint Grove, Town of Cottesloe, Town of Nedlands, Town of Claremont , Town of Mosman Park, you can go for a casual walk and pass through 5 in an hour. All with staff and CEOs on a mint. Complete joke,, most fail to provide decent facities, then you have Shire of Peppermint Grove building themselves a bloody palace white elephant on top of what was the Cottelsoe Bowling Club, bloody joke.

He was piss weak backing down on it.

unfortunately the self-interest of people in councils on the gravy train has over-ridden common sense..
hopefully Barnett keeps fighting this one, its bizarre that some council CEO's are actually paid more than the Premier and other members of parliament
