so grassy..as a union member you're comfortable with thugs Burton and McGiveron being given $150k cars each?...McGiveron receiving a payout of $477k..Kathy Jackson using over $1m in HSU funds coming from our lowest paid workers to pay for overseas travel and even to finalise her divorce?..and the list goes on. It's no wonder less than 20% of the work force are union members with the bulk being public servants. The old line of unions protecting workers rights and being there for the worker is total crap in many instances. It's not union bashing...its making them accountable.

Agree Grassy, this was all geared up for another attempt to cut ordinary working people rights and it will also fail AGAIN! Like you said lets have an investigation into the Liberal party and their dodgy dealings all over the country in the same period, if it was fair they would do this. I'm not sure I'm following you as several large companies have also been singled out for further investigation and possible charges under the Crimes Act including Thiess, Cleanevent etc so it's not just unions under the microscope although obviously the main terms of reference required the RC to focus on union corruption.

what a load of horseshit anchor...sure unions were necessary several decades ago but they've outlived their use by date and these days are only given oxygen by the more militant organisations such as the MUA et al.

if they want to retain staff and keep businesses viable they will. unions try to justify their existence by going over the top with demands which is not helpful to workers or owners. some unions are very effective others like the MUA, CFMEU, AWU are basically thugs and have been found out by the RC for all to see. and if unions are so essential, how come over 80% of the work force don't see the need to be in one.
