Remarkably the WA Liberal Party members of the House of Representatives have been allowed to ask some questions today. Of course it has NOTHING to do with the fact that there is a by-election in Canning this Saturday.

Haven't heard much about result so assume Election was called off as Billy Shorten noticed that WA isn't using Daylight Savings.

LS what is the normal swing at a by-election due to the death of sitting member?

To be sure! To be sure! We will need to wait until all votes are counted but the swing (two party preferred) currently stands at 6.42%. Historically the average swing in Federal by-elections between 1949 and 2014, resulting from the death of a sitting member is 2.5% (two party preferred). Nevertheless a win is a win!
