POLICE have laid charges against a young Subiaco WAFL footballer over a nightclub brawl between West Perth and the Lions players last month.

The 20-year-old Madeley man charged is understood to be a player with reigning premiers Subiaco. He faces two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Police investigated reports of a drunken fight between members of the rival clubs outside the Hip-E nightclub on Newcastle Street about 4am on Sunday, March 28.

“It is believed an altercation had taken place involving several people who were intoxicated resulting in a man with a possible dislocated ankle and another man with a laceration to his head,” police said last month.

yes Custy...I think we all know who it is...and depending on what happened which I'm not sure anyone on this site is across he could be in a bit of strife if you look at Krakouer, Newman and co.

FROM PERTH NOW

A young Subiaco WAFL player has been charged over a nightclub assault on two West Perth players.
POLICE have laid charges against two young Subiaco WAFL footballers over a nightclub brawl between West Perth and the Lions players last month.

A 20-year-old Madeley man and a 24-year-old Perth man have been charged and it’s understood they are players with reigning premiers Subiaco. The teammates face two counts each of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Both men received hospital treatment.

West Perth player Max Alexander sustained the ankle injury, while his teammate Jordan Jones received a cut to the head.

No Subiaco players were injured in the fight.

Both clubs declined to comment on the charges when contacted by PerthNow.

A WA Football Commission spokesman said the WAFC would reserve any comment until after the legal proceedings.

The men charged are due to face Perth Magistrates Court next month.

The two clubs met on the field two weeks after the incident, with Subiaco defeating West Perth by 17 points.
