Watching the cricket broadcasts on tv won't be the same.
Former England cricket captain and veteran Channel Nine commentator Tony Greig has died. He suffered a heart attack and aged 66.
Greig was a distinctive voice in cricket broadcasting, and was diagnosed with lung cancer in October. He suffered a heart attack at his home on Saturday morning.
A well known commercial tv station described Greig as a "beloved" figure.

"Tony Greig is a name synonymous with Australian cricket - from his playing days as the English captain we loved to hate, to his senior role in the revolution of World Series Cricket, his infamous car keys in the pitch reports and more than three decades of colourful and expert commentary," a tv broadcasting company statement said.

RIP Tony.

Used to love the banter with Bill Lawry, used to always give you the impression they hated each other. Which was the furthest from the truth.

Cricket commentary on 9 will never be the same with Tony's death along with Richie & Bill's retirement looming. Who could ever forget the pitch report with the weather wall, the keys in the pitch & the good bantered niggly agro thing with Bill.

Yeah he was like a balancing act between him Bill and Ritchie, in that there was someone prepared (albiet a bit contrived at time) to get stuck into the ausies. Alas now all we have is sycophants in Healy Slater and to a lesser degree Taylor, who refuse to criticise any of THEIR precious darling Aussie team.
