Can't understand the big deal over this or Ford when it happened. Every day businesses go broke and close their doors. How come no one gives a toss about them?
Yes people will lose their job, but that happens all the time day after day.
And lets face it, Holden and Ford are no more australian than Toyota or Hyundai.

Yer right, what a stupid comment by po. What I can't understand is, how is it the Libs fault? Holden have been in trouble for a long time...it didn't happen as soon as the Libs got in. As a Holden lover, I'm shattered too, but when do you stop throwing good money in after bad? All that has happened is that the inevitable has been bought forward by a govt that needs to rein in the reckless spending that we have seen in the last few years.

How much are the unions to blame?..and also how much do holden put into that racing team that does the circuit(as in bathurst etc)? if ya business is struggling to make money, cut the costs...as in car racing sponsorship...ide hate my tax $$ to go to support holden, then they spend squillions on bathurst etc

I've never been a fan of the HRT, or supercar format. Its all about money. Once upon a time cars from the show room floor used to compete and race. It was essentially R&D. My Torana has essentially the same gearbox, diff and engine block that raced Bathurst in the 1970s, my 2002 Commodore certainly doesn't have any pedigree except for the rubber pedals which were retained from all those years back.

In the 1960's and 1970's GM had no race team policy. The money was funded by the dealers, the cars were produced on the same line as mum and dad's Kingswood.

The 1988 VN Commodore cost $10 Million to put into production. The 2006 VE Commodore $1 Billion (it even got new rubber pedals).

Holden should have built a simple medium sized rear wheel drive car with the choice of 4cyl, 6cyl or a V8 utilising the majority of the parts from the Commodore. Cruze is an absolute no brainer in my books.
