I realise this may not be of much interest to you back in Australia however as an Aussie in Canada trying to develop our great game I thought it would be good to share this with you all.

Happening Saturday Canada Mountain Time (GMT -6) which will be Sunday for you lot back in Aus. 4 games will be played by both Womens and Mens teams. It is going to be broadcast live by the Edmonton Australian Football Club who are hosting the event.

The club I play for in Calgary has had 7 Canadians selected for the tournament. Who knows maybe one of em will do a Mike Pike and end up in the AFL.

Hope it all goes well on Saturday. When you get a chance it would be really interesting to hear your perspective on the game in North America. Is it attracting locals or is it mainly expats playing. I'm sure Pykes success would have stirred up some interest over there. Also have you been in Canada for a while and how many Aussies are there? Is AFL shown on Cable at all?

Well the Canadian women won both their games, smashing USA in the top division game. The Canadian Guys drew in the development game but lost the top division one unfortunately.

There is quite a bit of Canadian interest in the sport. I know our club in Calgary would have approximately half if not over half Canadians. The Club in Edmonton is mainly Canadians.

We have attracted a 17 year old to the club this year and he just keeps getting better and better every game he plays. It will be exciting to see where he is next year.
