Court has found that Cable did sexually assault a young girl and has handed down a judgement in excess of $800k, which is meaningless given this sleezy pedo had declared himself bankrupt just prior to the trial. Happy for this lady to have had her day in court and her claims recognised. All references to Cable in Halls of fame etc should be removed. All his feats on the footy field pale into insignificance against what he has done to this woman.

Yep totally agree with your comments SS. As a Perth and North Melbourne supporter back in the 70’s because Cable played for them, I am shocked and appalled and disgusted. Can you ever imagine something like this coming out about one of your former greats like Mike Fitzpatrick or Peter Featherby? You’d be absolutely shocked and devastated. I used to watch The Winners just to catch a glimpse of Barry Cable.

The man has brought shame on himself and fooled the WA and football public around Australia for a long time. He should be stripped of his AFL and WAFL Hall of Fame Honours and his name should be removed from the Number 2 locker at Perth and the number 9 lockers at EP and North Melbourne.

And it’s about time now the cops brought criminal charges against him which they should have done decades earlier. Grubby cops protecting an icon.

Is not the first time the system has failed.
Serious questions also must be asked of those that simply swept the case under the rug, hoping the story would go away!
Is a sad way for Cable to be remembered. His playing feats will pale into insignificance, which is a shame.

Unfortunately the different treatment of high profile people in these situations leads to many issues as we saw in the UK with the Jimmy Saville/Rolf Harris cases. Cable hid behind his hero status from his playing days and the issue was obviously supressed when it initially came out.
Like others I commend this brave lady for following through with this and through her bravery other people have been empowered to speak out.

The sporting community is like every other sector of society, the vast majority of participants are good people who would never take advantage of others but there is a small cohort of evil people who use their status to achieve their ends.

Going by the latest report, it is now up to the police whether to pursue cable with a criminal charge/s. After hearing the statement given by the judge.
Given the previous reluctance of the police, this story more likely to just fade away.
Obviously said lady wanted her day in court and story to be told. Only then did other women come forward with similar statements.
Sadly, cable will always now have a black mark against his name.

Been stripped already of his WA Hall of Fame honours and life membership of the WA Football Commission. Same end to his AFL honours to happen within days. Sad demise of a football and sporting icon with hidden dark secrets he’s been hiding all his professional life while gloating and revelling in the glory.
