do people have a suggestion as to how the travel related businesses and people from that industry are to be compensated from these decisions ?
do they just go on the dole or is Mcgowan going to pay their wages forever ?
people cant think beyond their own world and dont give a stuff about others and the impact on the economy

MO I do think abt the industries that are effected by the borders decisions but I also think abt the broader community and weigh up the consequences of a decision for one group against the many. If I have to pay for it through state taxation the sobeit but we will pay a lot more if we have a a second third etc wave due to community transmission something the numpties on the eastern seaboard still have not got a handle on!

the broader WA community will suffer either way, what happens when jobkeeper ends and the WA unemployment rate rises, are you expecting the federal govt to fund the WA economic and social impacts if we decide to keep our borders closed ?

I thought I was reading a different topic. I thought this was about the fresh outbreak in China. If it's about the US and Trump the Trump haters make sure it stays on topic.

MO I do not pretend to know the answers but I do accept one thing and that is that as residents in WA we are in a much better space than at least two other states both of whom basket cases when it comes to this issue. The interesting thing for me is that firstly they cannot control the transmission rates and in their rush to appease they create more issues.

I think that by July we will have an open border process where folk can move abt but I think, and rightly so, that WA will see what transpires in SA with their openning up.

The cost is enormous but I think that the current government has shown its ability to get us out of the mire as opposed to what we had before! Our main source of income is running at a good price and with the farming sector being in a relatively good space we should manage the economic mire better than others.

I suppose at least the Vics can always fall back on their continual self proclaimed "Sporting Capital Of The World" title to keep their spirits up!

Grump - our state incomes dont fund job keeper and the dole and thats where people will be if the state govt continues to destroy tourism and related industries.
are you expecting the federal govt to cover a WA decision ?
