It’s now exactly half way through the season and what have we learnt so far in season 2022. Let’s start with this, the season, much like previous seasons is wide open for anyone to make a run for the top of the ladder. Plenty of good football has been played and we still have plenty left to go. Secondly, where are the folk who happily piled on MrM last year? Hiding? MrM is here, week in, week, do not run and hide.
Lacking contributions from everyone has MrM quite sad on his daily commute, I know you read, MrM knows this, MrM was quoted as a genius earlier in the season, so please folk, join on in. The last exciting point is this, how many forfeits will we see on the back end of the season now? There was definitely a bizarre circumstance on the weekend, and MrM is afraid that may become a norm for all, but we shall wait and see the outcomes before passing any more judgement. Let us look at this weekend’s fixtures, with some excitement indeed.
Wanneroo v Swan Athletic @Wanneroo Showgrounds
The Roos managed to find a way to win last weekend, and that will hold them in good stead for the remainder of the season, as they push for a top 2 finish, but will know things will not come easy to them when they face Swan Athletic this weekend. Swan Ath have had an indifferent year, but they always show up when it comes to Wanneroo and MrM enjoys that indeed. It will not be easy though for the Ath boys and I can see them walking away without the win here.
Wanneroo by 3 goals
Melville v Baldivis @Melville Reserve
Melville are another side facing a tough task in the back half of the season, can they do enough to avoid relegation or will it be a case of another yo yo straight up and straight down. It is just unfortunate that this weekend they face Baldivis who are more that capable of playing on an Auskick oval. Baldivis are going along swimmingly and know a big win here will set them up for the second half of the season. MrM is a big fan of the Brumbies, and some may join in too.
Baldivis by 5 goals
Collegians v Bullcreek Leeming @David Cruikshank Reserve
It is always tough for teams at The Shank and Collegians proved they are a contender last weekend when they had a somewhat shock win against some very good opposition. But aside form Collegians Colts running away again, they are a good club, with very handy players. Bullcreek on the other hand, had a loss but it is not all doom and gloom, as it could be 13 v 13 in the Colts, but the league game should be a good contest as I think Bullcreek could be very dangerous in the wet. Collegians at home, will be hard to pass here.
Collegians by 2 goals
Mount Lawley v Ocean Ridge @Inglewood Oval
Not many would have seen Mt Lawley dropping a game to Collegians last week, but they did, as they tumbled down the ladder as well, and to avoid any further sliding, a win this week is needed against an Onion Ridge side desperate to show that they belong in the top 5. Onion Ridge have put together some good recent results and will be out to show they are definitely a contender here. Given both sides playing on gigantic ovals, I think that Mt Lawley will just have the edge in the wet.
Mount Lawley by 2 goals
Whitford v Wembley @MacDonald Reserve
This game is another game where the result could go either way. The North Padbury gents are sneakily getting things done and are clear on top of the ladder in both grades and we will by pass the Colts for another week. They are a good side, looking to do good things however and Wembley will be out to stop that. Wembley though, can they manage to string it all together and play some good football on the back half that will see them sneak into finals anything can happen and for that MrM is excited once more. It should be a good game, but I can see Whitford(unlike those on the balcony when it’s raining) getting a good win here.
Whitford by 2 goals
Good luck to all.
