Only 3 rounds left of the season and it’s time that we all sit and talk about how much fun we are all having this season. MrM is having a grand ole time and we all know that unfortunately for all those out there and johnny come lately’s they try to swoop in and they try to take MrM down. If there was an Olympic sport for pure consistency of football writing MrM would be the gold medalist, in football terms he would be a Hayden Bunton Jnr triple Sandover winner, even the Podcast has reached out to MrM, but MrM had to decline much to the sadness of viewers and listeners.

The football though, mouthwatering stuff and who knows what is going to happen in the last 3 rounds, left us sit back and see and not sook too much.

Mt Lawley v Swan Athletic @Hamer Park

The Lawley gents gave themselves some breathing room last weekend and usually 5 games will be enough to save you from relegation, so they might be able to rest easy, however they come up against a side desperately needing a win. Swan Ath are still fighting off relegation and have 3 important games to finish off. It will be a tough gale for both sides here, but I have a feeling that Swan Ath will win and put pressure back on others.
Swan Athletic by 2 goals

Ocean Ridge v Bullcreek Leeming @Heathridge Park

The winner of this game will remain in touch with the top 3 and the loser, well they are still a chance to miss finals? Who knows. The onion ridge boys are fairly confident as they keep telling MrM on the side, where as MrM is big on the big Bullcreek boys. Onion ridge will be hoping the home ground and wider expansions will assist them, however in the wet can Bullcreek get the job done. Will be a good game, everyone gather on the balcony and watch 123 metres from the playing surface.
Bullcreek Leeming by 1 goal

Whitford v West Coast @Macdonald Reserve

Whitford have strung together a few wins now and it sees them sitting outside the relegation zone and on the verge of a sneaky finals tilt, however will probably drop players back to strengthen the Reserves in a bizarre move. West Coast though are the form team and know a few big wins could see hem close the percentage gap for top of the ladder. West Coast too good though, especially for a Bunga 300th. Another ground, another let’s gather on a small balcony and watch the play from 123 metres away.
West Coast by 4 goals

Bassendean v Ballajura @Jubilee Reserve

Bassendean were good last week, make no mistake they did not let up at all. They have some big boys who do not mind throwing the weight around. They will thrive in these conditions, but up against a flu with everything hanging on this game. If Ballajura lose, that is fine, reducing the margin is the big thing to be wary of with things so tight down the bottom. It might be close, but Bassendean to get it done, can people watch the game from the balcony here?
Bassendean by 4 goals

Kingsley v Wanneroo @Kingsley Park

Kingsley are a club who’d be quite disheartened but results this season as I am sure they didn’t see themselves facing relegation. It doesn’t get easy for them this weekend though as they face a club looking to solidify their position before finals. Wanneroo had a great win last weekend, putting them back on the winners list and know they can still improve. It will be a tough little twilight game here, but Wanneroo will prevail.
Wanneroo by 3 goals

Good luck to all, hopefully the weather holds off. Ignore spelling mistake, was a bumpy train trip to the city.

A sloppy day for it by the looks and maybe some heavy, tired bodies this end of the season. But some big game await.

Swan Ath by 2 goals over Lawley who snuck home last weekend against Balla. The game is too big for swan ath to lose with relegation knocking.

This one is a toss up for me as both teams will make finals but won’t feature on the final weekend of the season. I will go Onion Rings at home by 2 goals.

West Coast by 5 goals over the shopping centre.

Ba$$o at home over Balla by 4 goals. Balla also with plenty to play for but a one point loss last week would hurt. Basso were good last week and will want to do enough here to bounce back.

Roos by 6 goals. Kingsley a tough ask to win here and after this week, may be ready for the season to be over.

Intriguing round of results on some dung hills just gone. Can't wait to hear Mr M's take on the Roos and how they are tracking as well as the some feedback from the Whitfords contingent because they have come out of the woodwork on socials with recent results.

The Ath get a massive win and sneak out of relegation. Not shocked the Hawks lost here. Big coupla weeks, stay in B grade for another season with the Ath desperate for 4 points. They only need one more win Ath and I believe they will get it over the next 2 weeks. Any reports from the game would be great.

Ridge get the train back on track after an inconsistent few weeks. Big game for both teams which looked close all game. Bullcreek missing an opportunity to lock in a home final and have a tough couple weeks to finish. Ridge soon to lose a star player to the NT which will all but finish them in my eyes.

West coast just get the choccies over The Shiz and company. North Padbury will be spewing they didn't play like this for the first 9 weeks. There ressies keep on chugging along but not sure what's happening in the lower grades. West coast have just done enough the last couple of weeks and battle for top spot is very tight. Do they want a week off? We shall find out

Balla lose another close one against an unimpressive Basso. Balla will be kicking themselves with how they have played since round 9. Have pushed a lot of strong teams but the start of the season has hurt them. Last chance for survival is this week. Basso get the win but aren't playing with any real momentum. We know what they can do, can they bring it?

Wanneroo did what they needed to do and secure another 4 points. Kingsley look all but done now. They do have 2 games they definitely can win but all reports they are running out of sting. It starts this week, get the W and head home to Kinga for round 18. Wanneroo have a big away game against the Creek this week with a win securing top in my opinion.

Would love some feedback from the games ladies. Only 2 weeks to go and it's all to play for!!

Maybe Shiz can enlighten us on what is happening at Whitfords?
Not so long ago had 5ths & 6ths now forfeiting 4ths and completely uncompetitive in 3rds?
Is the the ressies quest for a premiership at the expense of the rest of the club causing  disharmony perhaps?

My two cents.
Haven’t been competitive in our 3/4s grade for a few years after winning a couple of flags and then retirements, age waits for no man. PFL has not allowed them to drop down a grade and instead playing against A grade’s sides.
The 3/4s are truly 3/4s, unlike Uni, Wesley etc who have absolutely stacked mid 20 year olds in their sides, I remember playing against them thinking that they would rival our 2s side. . There are numerous blokes on the other side of 40 playing for Whitfords in these bottom sides.
1s are a very young side and have been great in the back half of the year, continue to build to a top 5 side next year.
2s are also quite young but the main difference being the 32-39 year olds who have played 150+ A/B grade games who are no longer the future of the club, mentoring the younger blokes in the 2s. You may lose speed as you get older, but not skills or smarts. Many of these players have contested for A/B grade flags in the early/mid 2000s.
Club culture is fantastic with some excellent coaches.
Who knows, 2 missed games against Kingsley due to COVID and a couple of close losses, could have been a different story this year.

They need to even the C5 grade out . The same top 3/4 teams have been the top 3/4 teams for at least 10 years . They need to put those teams up a grade into C4 or even C3 . That is what promotion and relegation is all about but it doesn’t seem to apply to the top teams in C5.

I've just looked at the composition of C5 and it appears that the PFL have recreated D1 with a different title, all 3rds and 4ths teams.

I agree Jords that the promotion and relegation would have evened out this and potentially C4 as well.

Had the 2 grand finalists gone up at the end of 2019 both Uni and NB would have gone up to C4. Assuming that Nth Freo were the next best as they were in the GF last year and only 1 went up in the Covid effected season they too would have been in C4.

Here's the spanner in the works and may be able to be answered by someone from North Beach as according to Gameday they had both C4 and C5 teams last year. C4 came last, C4 Res came second last, C5 Prelim finalist, C5 Res Grand finalist. In what order are the teams at NB selected?

NB 3s and 4s played C5 last year as yes that was basically D1 with a different name.

NB 5s and 6s played C4 last year hence the not so great results. Those boys are playing in the E grades this year.
