fair to say that hundred makes it difficult to justify Wade as a specialist batsman now

probably also fair to say , given the situation in the match & series , that 79 was Tim Paine's best Test innings.
that 150 odd partnership chucks it almost entirely over to NZ now

Gee Williamson's dismissal was a shocker....not a great day for ole Sugar yesterday.....big ask for the Kiwi batsmen on day 3....weather will be hot though, so I guess they will just need to bed in and grind out a 350 plus total....Aussie bowlers have the pace to cause some problems....can see some short pitch stuff coming out when the ball gets old.....can see Paine batting again if the Kiwis get rolled....totally grind down their fatigued bowlers...especially with Sydney round the corner.....

Will the Aussies enforce the follow on.The Kiwis are rattled by our quick bowlers. They needed an old fashioned warm up tour games. There test away record is very average.

I see Peter Siddle has announced his International retirement overnight.
A very good career with 221 Test wickets for Australia including a Hat-Trick against the Poms at the Gabba in 2010/11.
A good team man and a good decision to pull stumps now and allow the next generation of young fast bowlers to step up when given their chance.

erasmus defintely does not like New Zealannders; terrible shots by Latham and Taylor, all the same.

gtr: I agree with you 100 percent on the tour games: the truth is the ACB does not give a stuff about NZ, and the Kiwis obvioulsly were nnot strong enough to stand up to the board. Lack of tour games, as you know, gtr, is one of the many reasons why you cannot campare test criket of today with that played in the past.

Ark
CA seriously considered a 5 test series V NZ.With there batting V our quicks. And there bowlers falling apart Boult+Southee .They would of lost 5-0..Wagner the second fastest Kiwi to 200 test wickets 46 tests.Sir Richard 44 tests...63% of Wagner wickets from the short balls. He's already got under our batsman skin..

gtr: interesting stat: Do you think he has got to the milestone nearly as fast as Sir Dick Hadlee because of the inept batsmenship he has had to dismiss?

Respective bowling stats here (Hadlee):

www.howstat.com/cricket/Statistics/Playe...p?PlayerID=0682#bowl

and here (Wagner):

www.howstat.com/cricket/Statistics/Playe...p?PlayerID=3967#bowl

Taking into account the strengths of the opponent relative to the era, Wagner has almost 50% of his wickets against "easier" teams.

Not sure if he ever bowled at Cody Leggett however.
