So let me get this straight. D'Arcy Short and Matthew Wade who have been the best T20 batsmen in the country over the last 2 years are left out of the Australian T20 squad and instead Warner (who cannot buy a run at the moment) and Smith ( great player that he is, he has not played a T20 international since 2016) have been inserted. This is beyond comprehension and indicates to me that the selectors still do not understand that T20 requires a totally different skill set and mindset to the other forms of cricket. Unbelieveable.

Can understand why Smith is included. He will be taking on the captaincy of the Test team again in the not to distant future when Tim Paine pulls the pin. To have Smith in the T20 side keeps him in the loop, so to speak. As for Warner, not clear what's happening there?

Mikey, while its great to have blasters at the top of the order, when they all fail which has happened to the Aussies a lot in international T20 cricket the team never recovers.

Warner was the leading run scorer in the IPL last season, and has just hit a ton for NSW, and Smith is the best batter in Australia.

Unfortunately you cant fit them all in, and I agree they need to pick guys at 5 and 6 that bat at 5 and 6 in regular T20 cricket, that's a different skills set to batting at the top of the order.

Interesting tit for tat chat between Lynn and Langer over Lynn's T20 omission.....Lynn says he hasn't been told directly by any of the selectors for his omission....Langer says Lynn is crystal clear why he wasn't picked???.....Langer also says it difficult to keep abreast on how every player is going with so many comps world wide these days....hasn't JL heard of cricinfo.com???....plus for his salary and Hohns, surely they must have an idea what those top 20-30 guys are doing and where they are especially around selection time??

I recall NCN saying something similar last year about not being contacted when omitted. Seems like there is a bit of a communication breakdown there. Maybe Trevor Hohns is past his use by date?

When was the last time Lynn played for Australia? He wasn't in the one dayers in the UK, did he play 20/20 cricket last summer?

He did a lot of talking but didn't back it up last night on the flattest wicket in Australia

For mine I reckon it must be a prerequisite that you are available to play and be selected in the Australian Domestic competitions (be it Sheffield Shield, Marsh Cup) to be selected for Australia as Lynn's 20/20 gun for hire status sets a dangerous precedent!

That SA keeper Nielsen keeps popping up with runs whenever he plays...79 last night...looks a talented sort....obviously behind Carey in SA...until Carey takes over from Paine on the test arena....looking around the country Tassie would be the only place for Nielsen to get a regular gig with Paine playing tests...
Inglis - WA Harper - Vic
Pierson - Qld Nevill - NSW
Carey - SA ?Doran - Tassie

Warnie reckons that young Phillipe should parachute the lot of them into the test team Freezin.
Problem is he isnt even the first choice keeper for the Warriors. That could be an advantage though given that Wade was the Tassie keeper when Paine got picked for Australia

Brutal batting by Warner, Maxwell and Finch against what you might describe as a very modest attack but you can only beat what is put in front of you and they did it well. The Sri Lankan batsmen had no clue against Starc Cummins and co and I can't see this series being anything other than 3-0.
