The article about Cameron Bancroft in the paper yesterday was an interesting insight into how he has tackled his 9 month suspension from cricket. Seems like he has gone down the spiritual path and has qualified as an accredited yoga teacher. He even flirted with the idea of giving up cricket altogether to take up teaching yoga full time. He says that he is a lot more relaxed and by confronting his faults he feels more able to enjoy his cricket as a fun thing to do rather than being defined by it. Will be interesting to see how this change in philosophy impacts on the way he plays. Unlike Smith and Warner he is no certainty to force his way back into the Australian team and Marcus Harris's success as an opener so far has made that tougher.
Its good to see though that Cam has taken responsibility for his actions even though he was less culpable than the other 2 and comes out of his suspension in a positive frame of mind.

Bancroft has a better technique than Finch, pity Renshaw can't make a run at present....Harris, Bancroft and Renshaw are good young bats, who will have a good battle over the next 5-7 years to open for Aust....also Philippe and Bryant in the mix.....along with Pucovski, Edwards, Sangha, Green, Sutherland, Hardie, Pope, Nielson et al could become regular names on the international stage for Aust over the next decade.....

Great to hear Cam tell the truth & put the blame onto Warner. Warner is an arrogant prick & should have got FIVE years suspension. Everyone I know thought it was Warner's plan. but the "boys" wouldn't let out the news.
Well said Cam, it is NOT dobbing in your mate. Warner has no mates.

I realise that opinions are ten a penny but I have read and listened to Bancroft and it would seem that despite him saying he isn't or doesn't want to be a victim he really is!

Yep Warner is a bully and he obviously bullied Bancroft but if you are told to to do something that is clearly outside the actual laws and the moral laws of the game then the responsibility is yours not the bullies cos even tho' you have been intimidated into doing you still did it!

I am sorry but in all my years of being involved in WAFL football I have never seen anyone breach the laws in a similar manner and then blame someone else for the action they took!

As for Smith saying that he saw that something was afoot but did not do anything makes him worse than the bully, he allowed a younger person to be bullied, intimidated and the carryout the action., PATHETIC actions of a person selected to be the captain of a team at any level.

To me it all just reaffirms the held belief within cricket and outside it that being a cricketer at first class level currently makes you special and that we should all bow down to their greatness, crap!

Great to hear Smith heap a load on CA. For me they have got away Scott free, when there should have been much more pressure applied to them for their lack of leadership.
I am not sure that the interviewsinterview are a breathing, it is only rehashing what we already knew.

Agreed that warner has left holding the baby but it seems that s where it should be as for CA as in any organisational structure the shit runs down hill and that is not right in this case, they bred the culture as did some the predecessors in the team that are now throwing bricks.

They are only cricket players nothing more or less and the adulation in which they are held also contributes to the culture.

There is such a thing as peer pressure that is very real. Why do teenagers feel the need to smoke and drink alcohol and do drugs? They fear if they don't they won't fit in, the guy's won't get the hot girls and the straight girls won't fit in with the cool guy's. Same thing when a young cricketer gets picked to play for Australia, something he dreamed about as a kid.

Our armed forces are as bad as anyone in the past and probably still goes on today. New cadets forced to do humiliating things to be accepted as one of them. I'm not making excuses for Bancroft, he should have said no way mate you must be kidding. Then at an appropriate time maybe spoke about it to Smith or Lehman. But that would have placed him in an equally awkward predicament where both Warner and possibly other team mates would have labelled him a snitch and that most likely would have ostricized him from the Australian team and it would have been a completely different type of scandal.

Warner picked Bancroft as his bunny and put him in a no win situation.

I get the feeling that Warner is going to struggle to get back into the Australian team when his ban ends. Even though he would walk into the top 6 based on his ability, his relationship with some of the players may have been damaged beyond repair and his presence may detract from the team culture that they are trying to create.
