Well that was a non event.
And to think we have the WI out here again next Summer for another Test Series.
No doubt Perth are already inked in to host them in 1 of the Tests again!!!

Well after that piss poor turn out over 5 days at Optus by the WA public BH, quite surprised if Tassie don't get that  Perth earmarked test TBH. Lot of talk the WA public stayed away in support of JL?.....yet JL still went to watch.....and got paid for it. That might  come back and bite WA fans in the bum. I get Captain Carbon isn't overly popular at present, but pretty sure folk didn't  woke on when Simpson got shafted by Taylor et al for player's favourite in Swampy Marsh.

Not sure Aust can take much out of that game for the  SA series, hopefully as class usually does,  Green will step up a gear v a better opposition bowling attack......kind of expecting Labuschagne and Head to be grounded from their current lofty batting perches....both are due a failure after their recent batting feats......will Warner play?.....yeah he will.....as BH says he want a 100 test  matches......say au revoir in Sydney ....regardless of his form.....though apparently Warner is owed this for washing CA dirty laundry.

Kellaway scored a nice ton v SA in the current CA v SA game......Teague Wyliie batted at 7......but missed our.....though he does sound quite cooked of late and has struggled these past few weeks.....only young, needs to get back to Rockingham/Mandurah and score some runs and recharge whilst the BBL is on.

Freeze you have been listening to Jim Maxwell on Abc Radio.I happened to be with someone on Saturday who was listening to the Abc Coverage.
Mr Maxwell wants Perth to lose the test to Tasmania next year.He mentioned it about a dozen times on Saturday.
Think it's time to give the Captaincy back to Smith. And push the Climate activist back down the list a bit.
Alinta Gas have 4 years left on the CA contract.$28,000,000 in sponsorship gone at $7,000,000 per year at  the Wokes request.

Gtrx, I am only a fan of Cummins the cricketer, not interested in the slightest his political views....he is Aust best bowler and fans  can always rely on him to bend his back for the baggy green. His stoush with JL is no interest of mine either....JL is a complex sort from all beliefs, met many of those over the years, can't fault their passion, but that is their's  and not everyone's belief and vice versa.

Hopefully WA fans will be able watch test cricket live, have many a fantastic memory of watching tests at the WACA growing up....with the 1975 test v WI being my first.....Frederick's hooking Lillee and Thommo off his nose over to where i was sitting under the scoreboard, to DK throwing his aluminum bat v Brearley's poms, to DK and Javed going at it toe to toe,  to Wayne Phillips sciring 150 odd on debut v Pakistan and so on and so on......WA fans love their cricket are very parochial, just be a shame to miss out in protest re JL dismissal.....JL will survive and seems to of moved on with his life......some folk need to do the same.

Despite being as parochial a West Aussie as they come I actually dont give a rats about Langer getting moved on as coach per se Freeze it was just the way it was done that I and Im sure many others feel wasnt right with the tail wagging the dog so to speak. I am also no fan of the replacement coach McDonald either.
The players have far too much say in proceedings these days for my liking, they are extremely well paid and should do as they are told from upper management imho although CA is sadly lacking in management ability it must be said.
Cummins costing Cricket in Australia a $40 million Alinta Gas sponsorship was incomprehensible to those of us who love their grass roots cricket, it might not mean much to the fly all over the world in first class, live in a huge Eastern Suburbs Sydney mansion, driving a gas guzzling Range Rover Millionaire hypocrite Pat, but down the line it will have significant ramifications!

There have been so many iconic test moments at the WACA. My personal favourite is Gillys 58 ball ton in 2006-7. Test cricket had so much more atmosphere at the WACA and it gets lost in that massive stadium. Like you Freezin I am sick of all the extraneous crap that the media and others bang on about in relation to off field issues. I just want to debate the future of Aussie cricket with the likes of Kellaway, Morris, Teague Wylie , Hunt, Hardie etc etc looking to push up into an aging team. Looks like the production line of young talent will continue in contrast to the West Indies who look completely bereft. I think there would only be about 3 or 4 of their current squad who would be good enough to play at Sheffield Shield level.

The problem with the WACA Ground Mike is it so run down, out of date, lack of shade, bars etc that we would probably be behind the likes of Hobart & Canberra to hold the Ashes and other big cricket matches if we did not move to Perth Stadium for our International games now.
The MCG & SCG will always be guaranteed the Boxing Day & New Years Tests respectively and ditto the big World Cup Finals or Semi Finals, that means we would be jostling with the likes of the upgraded Adelaide Oval, the soon to be rebuilt Gabba (for the 2032 Olympic Games) for those other big games and the WACA falls a long way short of those stadia and even behind Bellerive Oval and possibly Manuka....
The WACA was great in its day I also attended almost every Test there from 1980 onwards but those days are long gone now!

Maxwell fails to realise that Sydney is badly attended in per capita terms--small ground even comparred to Perth these days.

Very true AR and not forgetting Sydney also have their New Year Test Match every year whilst almost everyone is on holidays too unlike us who get a Wednesday start in November.
But as I have posted elsewhere Maxwell should have been pensioned off years ago!

The only Tests that are reasonably well attended nowadays are the Boxing Day games at the MCG

Football attendances are going downhill fast as well
