The way the everyone in the footy media seem to underrate Fremantles list, particularly when missing our biggest names, Lyon clearly is the best coach in the AFL by far.

A/man you only have to go back to the Medhurst situation to understand that Freo players are generally undervalued. When he won AA award at Collingwood it was no better than one of the years at Freo; the only difference was that he was in Melbourne playing for Collingwood.

By any reckoning McPharlin has been one of the best defenders for the better part of a decade. He is only now getting the recognition. I would also think it has to do with Lyon being the coach. It would appear that this gives the players at Freo a gravitas that they did not have previously.
