I reckon Humpty Dumpty and Humphrey B Bear could do the AFL score review and not stuff it up. Fair dinkum who are these clowns in the new much talked about Bunker? Luckily Collingwood didn't win or it would have overshadowed the whole grand final week. Congrats GWS they gutsed it out after losing several players leading up to this and Phil Davis hampered early.

They should get Lachie Whitfield and Toby nutcase Green back. Hope Sydney Stack gets through the VFL grand final and gets a call up and hopefully another ex Demon Ian "Bobby" Hill survives the cut.

I have a simple, elegant though radical solution for all these scoring controversies. It would also save a motza on most of the technology required - which seems incapable anyway of doing the job.

Solution is this - if the kicked ball passes between the big posts, it is a goal. If it goes either side it is a point. Doesn't matter if it hits a post, or is touched in flight.

If it hits a post, and bounces back into play, it is live, and play on. If it hits a point post and goes out of bounds (on the full or not) it is a boundary throw.

Simple really.

The A League starts soon Jack. That's the game where those rules apply.

Like DD glad the Pies didn't win the match.With a clear touch home town decision going the Pies way.Also pleased the umpires kept there cool in the last couple of minutes.And didn't pay a dodgy Collingwood free kick.

Then if the ball hits the post you'll need replays to decide if the ball went inside the post or outside if the goal umpire is unsighted where as now it doesn't matter...so nothing changes.

Not your best suggestion jack. The last thing we need is our game resembling poofball!!!!

I did say "most" of the technology. And at the moment, the two biggest controversies (and potential howlers) relate to whether the ball was touched in flight, and whether or not it hit (scraped) the goal post.

My simple and elegant solution, aided by some cameras to clarify (where necessary) which side of the goal post the ball has passed, disposes of both issues.

58 - how is it "poofball" to add certainty to scoring decisions?
