Let’s remember that touch up was by only 17 points in a game where Darling was off injured early in the first term and was finished for the day,Kennedy didn’t play that day and the Eagles were able to hit the front in the last term.
Yes Melbourne out played them and deserved there win.
But theres plenty of upside for the Eagles.

No doubt Melbourne are a much tougher opposition than what the Hawks would be and if the Eagles beat either team in the prelim and make the GF it will be well earnt and deserved.

Cannot see the Eagles missing the GF now, Melbourne "should" beat the Hawks, but you never know, yes Melbourne beat The Eagles over here, but the Eagles were pretty undermanned that day, I think the task will be just a bridge to far for the Ds, pity as a Melbourne v Richmond GF would of been a ripper.

Either way nobody is going to beat Richmond at the MCG, GF day.

Yep hit the front in the last term, but got overrun by Melbourne..
The Deescame over with a plantbeat the Eagles, they stuck to it and won the chiccies.
Finals may be different, but the Dees have the runs on the board.

Yes as i pointed out in my earlier post,Melbourne deserved to win and yep they over ran the Eagles by the tune of 17 points and yes they were down a mid but the Eagles had both there KPF missing(Darling virtually missed the whole game) and id be surprised if Simpson doesnt come up better prepared in the coaches box.

The dynamics of the game should be different to last time they met and the result may be the same if we play Melbourne and whoever wins will deserve a GF spot.

I agree with most Richmond(cant see the pies nor gws beating them in a prelim) whoever they play in the GF they will be very very hard to beat.

I think the Dee's will find it harder next weekend. The Eagles have never lost a game with both Darling and Kennedy in the team. Having said that Melbourne are on a tidal wave of momentum and are playing a style of football that is winning finals against seasoned opposition. I get the feeling that most neutrals are hitched onto the Demons bandwagon as per the Doggies in 2016 and the Tigers last year.

Agree Mike it would be good to see the D`s go all the way.But they where played off the park in that second qtr last night. The Hawks butchery delivering inside 50.And no fwd winning in both there finals matches.Dont think they will beat Wce or Rch if they play an average qtr like that again in 18.

gtr: beautifully summed up, particularly some of the ineptitude of Hawthorn's play both in front of goal and in terms of kicking to position.

Ark different players and era.Just think of the damage Mitchell Hodge would of done with all that 2 Nd qtr footy..Would of been a 10 goal quarter.

Thing is anch, whatever transpires from here on, the Eagles have given us hope all year. What has your rabble given you other than heartburn?
