I must admit I have mixed feelings about this issue. I think that James Hird like every other citizen deserves natural justice and the presumption of innocence. He is also in a very difficult situation in that he can't really comment on what is a current investigation and yet all these accusations are flying around in the media storm. Also Demetriou hasn't helped him with his public utterances. However if Hird has been knowingly involved or complicit in any IV drug use by the players his position as Essendon coach is untenable. The problem is this is going to be hanging over his head till July if media reports are correct as that is when the investigation will be completed. What do others think?

Agree. Unfortunately Hird is being tried by the media and ADSA at the moment and he hasn't had a right of reply as yet. Hard to say what the impact on him and the players will be. They have had this hanging over them for a few months now and they have responded pretty well so far. However I think they are coming up against their biggest test in the Dockers tonight, they may be relieved to be in Perth rather than Melbourne, away from the controversy. I think Lyon will instruct his players to focus on the footy and I would be disappointed if they tried to verbal the Essendon players. There will always be a few morons in the crowd I guess.

I have noticed the Canberra media have dropped the fact that he is a Canberra boy. Its a funny old town, and they like you to know which Champions are born and bred at every news report. Not Hirdy anymore...

What gets me is this Dank character. First milk from a lactating cow, tree bark, stuff from a pigs brain and more... Voodoo black magic? How can professional clubs become caught up with this type of rubbish? why? Who makes these decisions? Was Hirdy can't be acting alone if he did.

Did you see the look on his face after the siren tonight?. I was really pleased that the players lifted for him and I sincerly hope that the investigation clears him of any wrongdoing because he is a footy legend

This is the same guy that sat On The Couch and vehemently denied that he was coaching Essendon while Knights still had the top job, when in reality he already had the job a month before Knights was sacked.

Hird is in a lot of trouble, these latest text messages are pretty tame compared to what are going to come out next week, Caroline Wilson is usually spot on with her calls having predicted the Melbourne tanking findings and the CEO's departure before any other journo imo he is very lucky to still have his job.
Have a crack at Dank all you like he was appointed by Hird and his cronies, do you honestly think he would make these accusations without proof he would be perjuring himself and face serious litigation, the way i look at it Dank's career is ruined and he's going to take people and clubs down with him.

As with everyone, I'm not sure if Jimmy and the club is innocent. But why did they "cross the road" for the injections? With all the drug furore and constant scrutiny, I would have thought that they would have cleared it with the AFL. Surely they know not to guess whether it's legal or not. The evidence is becoming damning and we may end up with our own Lance Armstrong.
