.....BH....Ablett had to kick 9 goals from FF to win his and the rest were mids who picked up loads of the footy to win their respective medals....so by that logic.... Rance is gonna either have to kick 9 goals on Tex from FB or pick up 30 odd possessions.....or both... LOL....

Rance is a champ boys and would be a worthy winner......and FB can win Norm Smith"s........but Brian Lake won his from memory in a winning side.....not a losing side.....my point all along I think?.....LOL

But but I thought Ross Lyon games plans don't win flags against free wheeling high scoring teams, Bulldogs and Tigers have just disproved all of that.

Surely a Ross Lyon coached side would disprove that - not sides he does not coach.

I think it comes down to cattle and I would argue he's come up against the likes of Geelong ,Hawthorn and to a lesser extent Collingwood, doesn't change the fact the same game plan does work.

Put Lyon in charge of GWS and I have no doubt they would be playing in a GF.

I think it sounds like it comes down purely to hypothesis.

At the end if the day in any sport defence wins tiltles, premierships etc, and that's a fact.

The evidence does suggest that - there are exceptions but mostly you are right about that.
