I'm taking a guess at what will happen to the WA free agents in 2017.
Hayden Ballantyne: going nowhere - too old
Nat Fyfe: unless Freo show promise of a flag in the next year or two - gonski (Hawks)
Garrick Ibbotson: probably stays
Michael Johnson: stays - getting old
David Mundy: stays/ or retires
Aaron Sandilands: retires - too old
Nick Suban: maybe stays

Josh Kennedy - stays
Mark LeCras - stays - too old
Eric Mackenzie - depends on how he goes in 17 and the chances he gets
Matt Priddis - stays - too old

That's interesting Sharky, you say unless Freo show flag potential in the next year or two Fyfe is gonski (Hawks). So Hawks have just lost Hill, Lewis and Mitchell, gained Tom Mitchell and O'Meara coming off two year absence from football and will lose Hodge, Gibson, Burgoyne in the next 1-2 years and perhaps more through retirement yet you see them as having brighter flag prospects short term.

I think a club more likely to be primed for a flag in the next few years might be St Kilda.

But lets look at the Eagles.
The French man should have gone this year,not too old, but not good enough.
McKenzie will go.No chance of a premiership at the Eagles.
Kennedy maybe no one else will want him so he has to stay.
Priddis is the only one who would deserve to stay, but as you say he is not getting younger.
