Kurt Tippet should be back by round 22. You can take that from the "Horses" mouth.

And Zac Smith wasn't he a No 1 draft pick when GC started? You got him for a third rounder. Unbelievable!

True DD, dont think Smith liked the culture at the suns.True players like to go to "successfull clubs", also at the moment i think Geelong is rated as one of the best clubs for player welfare ( not the be and end all, but does help). Dangerfeild was a lucky get, didnt chanse the money as such, just a local lad, who wanted to come home.

Dangerfield,Selwood and Lachie Henderson were all from Geelong way.

That's irrelevant, it is called the AFL (Australian Football League with a national draft so the cherries can be picked out of WA by interstate clubs. Would love to see Jaeger O'Meara, Buddy Franklin, Jessie Hogan, Harry Taylor, Jack Martin etc.... running around in Dockers or Eagles jumpers.

Not other teams fault wa boys dont want to come home. Reckon Harry T would have been offered more than the cats offered . Buddy was up or the drsft why didnt a wa club take him? Dont blame other clubs for wa clubs poor recruiting

Well if the GF is between either of Sydney, Hawthorn and Geelong or one of them are in it and win it it will be more embarrassment for the AFL because quite clearly the draft isn't having its intended effect.

Well it wasnt irrelevant because as free agents and the fact that they were from the Geelong area it was a no brainer where Dangerfield and Selwood were going to end up,Dangerfield in particular could have got more money from a Melbourne based club but he only wanted to go to Geelong and Adelaide and the Eagles with Selwood were never going to match there offers.

Free agency is going to be the big killer for non Victorian clubs and to rub salt into the wound by all accounts West Aussie O'meara if he leaves the Suns will only go to a Melbourne based club,he doesnt want to come home.

Getting on a plane every second week is a turn off for potential non WA recruits.

By the way Unk Franklin went pick 5 in the 2004 draft and because of the priority picks there were only 2 other clubs that could have drafted him,Richmond(picked Tambling) and The Western Bulldogs(picked Ryan Griffen).

Should be able to keep more WA talent in Perth with the acedemies starting up next year in WA, if I had my way the two WA clubs would have first choice of players from WA,, I would actually get rid of the draft that way some of these propped up Vic clubs would disappear.

Yep that would be nice especially if we were to get the cream of the crop ala Isaac Heeney at the Swans.

Spot on and about time. I didn't know about this. Go back to the very reason the Eagles were formed. The drain on our best players was growing bigger in number by the year. No longer was it just your out and out superstars like Barry Cable and Polly Farmer going in their late 20's, players were going in their early 20's. The whole idea was to form our own VFL/AFL teams so at least we could enjoy them representing WA teams in a national competition.

The two WA sides should at least have first dibs at 5 West Aussies every year, anything they pass on goes into the national draft. If after 3 years or 50 games they want to move interstate then let them go and the Vics can pay a truckload for them.

So the WA clubs couln't have swapped a player for a low pick and got Franklin?. So the vic recruits that play an have stayed in wa ( gaff, hurn,Mundy etc) dont seem to have a problem with the travel? Excuses and sour grapes IMHO.
