But then again, if the Dockers had received the same concessions that the Eagles received in 1986 them maybe the Dockers would have become a power a long time before we have. I know there will be those that say we got the same, but read the real story and not what you want to believe.
The Eagles winning the flag in 1994 cost Fremantle a lot of the same sort of selections that the Eagles got. The VFL, as it was back then saw that if Fremantle got the same concessions, there could be two power house teams from out of WA, and they didn't want that to happen.
Off the topic, I know but had to put the record straight.

A/man if Neesham set Freo and I quote 'set us way, way back' where did Damian dum dum put Freo?

I once saw an interview with Andrew McLeod and he mentioned his initial interview with Neesham. He was totally unimpressed and apparently he was asked relentlessly if he could swim. In fact most of the focus with his interview with Fremantle was based around water polo of sorts. Neesham had this focus on swimming, where McLeod didn't. He thought he was there for a football interview. He left Fremantle Oval knowing he didn't want to be there and he was subsequently overlooked.

Lets face it, the Dockers initially were led by duds. They didn't start off well at all. Damien Drum and Chris Connolly are confirmations of that. However I did think Mark Harvey was getting somewhere, but he got side whacked. Freo lost a lot of years, forget the list factor, the coaching appointments were just bad. But these days they set the mark. They are a different outfit now and they have learned from their mistakes. I don't think they look back these days, why would they. They are a very strong outfit on & off the field. Very prominent.

As for the Eagles, not much credit goes to the drafting of key premiership players who were massively overlooked by every other club. It isn't like they were handed to them in reality. In the draft Brett Heady was picked up at 92, Dean Kemp at 117, Tony Evans 64, Ashley McIntosh 112. Even Richmond, Footscray and St.Kilda overlooked Peter Matera for Banik, Croft and Arnol.

But living in the now, Fremantle should beat the Eagles by at least 30 points I think. The Eagles still behind Freo in terms of quality at this point. And losing 2 major key defenders wont help WCE this year. Mind you despite their recent dominance, Freo have had to work hard for most of these wins against WC. Hasn't been any real blowouts from memory.

They were both equally shit, they should of just called them the claremont dockers during the neesham years, it was amatuer hour under under him, Drum was one out of the box dumb as shit.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments re the drafting of these guys Jardine, all were fantastic footballers, do you think all 4 of these guys would have had the careers they had if they had say gone to a club like Melbourne over the last decade. One thing I think we all under value at times is that young players tend to grow faster in to better players when they are fortunate enough to be surrounded by a team full of quality players early in their careers. Jack Watts being a modern day example of slow progress and something Carlton's rebuild is going to struggle with especially with this most likely being Judd's last year.
