Remarkable crowds to open the season.
Over 360,000 all up, despite the seemingly endless controversies.
Sydney had a tonne of rain, so that crowd was compromised. The Gabba had a full house first up. Even Melbourne attracted over 27,000 to a Suns game, which was a surprise. Great crowds at the MCG on Thursday & Monday. However there must be a question mark on why Freo could only get 34,000 to a home game against Port? That is a lot of Freo members not showing up. Hardly justifies a 60,000 stadium at Burswood. Then again, Subi isn't a ground many like these days it seems. Like the Adelaide Oval, you build it right the crowds will come. In there droves.

But it really shows how far ahead the AFL is over every other code in this country. The NRL crowds don't come close. I saw abit of the Glory game over east yesterday, and I swear it looked like there were 14 people there. It was almost bare.

I guess the $3.00 AFL pie is a winner :P

Well id rather wait till the dust settles. 5 individual days to go to the footy for a start. A comprimised draw puts "known' blockbuster type games to start off with. People aint seen footy ( AFL) for 6 long months. No one ever argued that AFL wasnt way in front, its the % increase in attendances that i go by personally, and AFL dropped 14% ( i think) last year.
