I know the AFL clubs need practice games, but this NaB challenge is a complete dud. I think the time has come for clubs to play a few intraclub games, maybe one standard competitive practice game and then just start the season. Add a few extra rounds for the regular season with a few byes. Have the GF in October and be done with it. I haven't watched a lot of the Nab games, but the ones I have watched actually bored me senseless. I actually felt like these games were a bad promotion for AFL. Some of them made the ALeague look good, and when that happens it is actually detrimental to the code.

Less of the tin pot games, and more meaningful quality please. Don't damage your own product.

Agreed....might be time for a round robin knock out comp over one long weekend....might raise at least a glance from half of us.

Will raise a hypothetical with you guys here....if, and I acknowledge is a big if, the players at Essendon are found not guilty and the main group are released to play for round one, hit the ground running and say win 8 games on the trot at the start of the season do you think this may cause a rethink from AFL coaches and a call from them to disband the NAB comp??? ...it's an unprecedented preparation at Essendon in regards to basically the first team not being able to get any match fitness and if this scenario did arise ( once again I acknowledge is highly unlikely) what reaction would we see towards the pre season comp?

Whilst I do hate the NAB cup / challenge / wankfest, I would still prefer them to blow off the cobwebs in a format like this than have the first 2 or 3 rounds of the real season dish up absolute rubbish.
There is a reason why I dont ever watch the preseason matches, because it is shit. But I want to see the best footy possible come round 1.
