You're a bit hard anchor. Richmond are an old traditional VFL team, so it's more important that they get to wear their traditional gear isn't it? Well isn't it? Good bloody heavens, next you'll want total equality.

Yea great news for Port however it should never have come to this. Richmond were always going to be playing away if they got into the finals so surely you would think they would sort out an away clash jumper.

It's a disgrace that every club does not have an away strip that's nothing like their home strip. It's why it is and always will be the VFL with teams from interstate.

Ol Eddy Sooky McGuire ... our away strip is white with black stripes and home is black with white stripes.

Every interstate club has to have a non clashing away jumper so make the VFL clubs do the same.

Even Essendon bowed to the AFL & wear speckled light grey with the red sash. Who cares about Collingwood as they are out of the finals & will miss again next year. I thought Richmond once had a yellow with black outlined tiger. Wear that.

Good on Port. Will be good for them to wear their original jumper for the first finals series back at Adelaide Oval.

Wrong wrong wrong.

It is the VFL. I have the Herald Sun (1st sept) on my desk here. From the cover photo one would think that there were only VFL clubs in the finals.

Turn to page 5, and printed in bold print across 2 pages "FAMOUS FIVE FLY THE FLAG".

First sentence "Victoria has staked it's claim on premiership glory with five of the states teams clinching spots in the eight".

Down a little bit it refers to Fremantle and Port as "invaders", and how Richmond's win put an end to the Eagles and Crows.

Kidding yourself if you don't believe it's the VFL.

I believe Collingwood had to okay the use of the Port Magpies Jumper. Credit to Eddy and the team for allowing it.

Collingwood should use their 1982 clash jumper that was worn against Swan Districts.

He knew the backlash from everyone if he decided to be a c*nt that's why. Shouldn't have even needed his permission.

Or maybe Melbourne's tabloid is just as parochial as the only locally edited daily newspaper published in Perth - and its coverage reflects its readership as "the West" might.

It is a joke that Richmond does not have a suitable away strip. The AFL has by favoring tradition over the team who has finished higher on the ladder failed to remain impartial. If Port could find an alternative strip at short notice why could Richmond not?
