just returned from Melbourne was at the Magpies/Demons game, if you could call it that. It was a debacle of a spectacle, the crowd were obscenely bored I have never witnessed anything like it. If this is the future of our game, we are dead. I left there totally stunned at the whole day. It is a wake up call, the coaches are killing the sport. Something has to be done. Don't know what but that was just deplorable.
I know we get games like this, but nobody can deny we see it so so so much more these days. Was at the North game on Sunday and I admit it was a beauty. Didn't think it at half time but the roof lifted in he second half. Games like that keep the faith, but overall Monday was as bad as Ive ever seen. Having 60,000 people leave a stadium so flat was totally bad for the code. Didn't hear a peep on the train. It was like the people were so bored for two hours, it sapped every fibre in their bodies.
If the WAFL can get their act together, they may well win a few diehards back. God knows some if these AFL games keep getting dished up, it will make local stuff look more palatable, even with the rough edges. You can only fool a person for so long. Eventually they will say bugger this.
