I would be interested to know peoples views on Thursday night AFL games. Notice there have been a number of these this year and another one tonight. There has always been a game on Easter Thursday and it has been generally well attended but that is because there is a public holiday the next day, not so tomorrow.

The AFL seem to be experimenting with different days, there has also been a Monday night game this year. I wonder if they may be planning for expansion of the league in future years and looking at alternative time slots for games to suit the TV networks? My view is that footy should be scheduled on a weekend unless there are public holidays during the week ( e.g Anzac day, Easter Monday etc)

Having said that the Sydney v Geelong game tonight should be a ripper.......

Friday Saturday & Sunday is enough for me.
But I think the AFL will continue with Thursdays. It is a slot leading into the weekend, has basically no NRL opposition. And its not about the crowd, its about the ratings. They will probably play half a dozen a year.

I can see the AFL playing 2 x Friday night games in the future. No reason why they cant considering they have two broadcasters. Friday is the marquee slot and the advertising revenue will be too much to neglect. The NRL already do it I think.

I reckon it's a great idea. 6 or 8 a year would be good. What a great lead in to the weekend.

Im not a fan of Thursday or Monday night footy, unless as previously stated there is a special occasion for it ie a public holiday.
