Baz I nearly dozed off watching it, in fact I think I did. Sure it was close game but as far as skills go it was terrible. Scrums everywhere, flooding, poor kicking and not many goals. Our great game is a mere shell of what it once was.

maybe its the fact North choked again, but overall im worried where we are heading. the game is just a sea of players plugging gaps and suffocating. No flow or pure footy anymore. Friday nights game was the same. I think Carlton had 2 goals by three qtr time. Just ridiculous.

Mate I agree 100% - I watched it until half way through the last 1/4 and deadset it turned into a snore fest...crap skills, the payers looked bored and tired themselves.

the once great western derby is turning into the fat rats arse cup.

yeah can't argue with you guys, it was a pretty unrelenting slog, no real flow to the game and for a neutral it didn't have much to attract you to watch it. You get the extremes of either having 30 players around the ball or lots of uncontested possessions when players kick or handball backwards and it is very predictable.

What do you say??? Between the Sharks and Eagles I reckon I'm breaking down. Put the 2 of them together in a game atm and you'd get a soccer score :(

Hi anchorman , I'm talking about footy in a general sense. Some games specifically each week but overall the pattern of football is the same. Negate at all costs. It is hideously boring, unattractive and totally hinders the thing we loved about our game, the skills.

With all the so-called progress the AFL and the puppets (media) have been relentlessly bombarding us with for years. They have overlooked the single element that made the code incomparable .

Simplicity.

Now fellas like me just don't buy it. At times it's like we are being conned into how good this new version is. My old car may have not had the mod-cons, but it was made of steel and I loved it. My new car today is 90% electronic & computerised and made of plastic. With all those "advantageous" extras, there is so much more that can go wrong, and invariably it does. And it's no coincidence my old 1969 Holden is now worth more in dollar value today, than my 2008 Commodore . All I'm trying to say in this dribble is the past is proving to be the asset. The new is costly & loses its value . Same goes with football.

Probably 6 or 7 of the 9 games each weekend are crap. Skills are deploreable. Out of the 18 teams who would you go and watch player wise if you didnt follow a specific team?. Ablett, maybe stevie j rioli (if he has an "on" day). In regards to teams i would watch Hawks Cats Port, at least they tend to move the ball with speed and skill. I speak quite often to me mates in Vic, and many have turned thier back on the AFL, but have gont back to suburban footy, where the skill level is quite high, and players play to thier talent and flair rather than have it surpressed. Funnuly enough these suburban games gets crowds 5000 and above. Footy aint dead for the real follower, but the AFL is killing the game as we knew it (loved it).

Spont in Unka, I paid for Foxtel, and often wonder why, as each season goes on fewer and fewer of them present value, Take Friday night, I heard Mark Maclure saying that if they did not get 80,000 at the game there was trouble at the camp ( exact words) well they only got 68,000 so I guess there must be trouble at the camp and he is correct.

The way the games played, boring as bat shit, groups just running from one end to the other, as you saying people are turing their backs on it..

I only keep Foxtel now for overseans sport.
