Seems that the Bombers a not at all happy with Mrs Hird after her interview with the ABC.
Can the Essendon FC afford to sack Hird?It will cost them,reportedly,$2 mil to release him.If, and I say IF, Hird is found guilty, will that give the Bombers an out from having to pay him his money!!
Interesting times ahead and the season has only just begun. Another tough year for the Bombers.

My suspicions only here Anchor but was the Tanya Hird interview with the ABC pre-recorded at an earlier date and held up the sleeve of the ABC only to air it on the eve of Essendon's first match for maximum impact. Remarkably similar to the statements she made 6 months ago about AD. Would not be surprised one iota if the timing of this was a calculated shot at the AFL & AD from Aunty.

Will be interesting to see where it leads. Do any of us actually believe that AD did not tip off the CEO & the EFC? If he did as I 100% suspect, he should be forced to step down immediately for bringing the game in to disrepute although I also believe he has jumped that gun with his recent announcement to walk away at season's end. On the other hand, if the Tanya interview is legit in its timing, poor form on her behalf and poses the question, is it possible to be fired for something your wife says. God help us all if that's the case :pinch:

If in any way he has breached his contract then Essendon will be able to sack him without paying him out. Although (as always) this will result in a court case, so if they were to sack him I would say it would be a behind closed doors agreement and a slight pay out. But do we really think Essendon is going to sack their wonder boy?

Stupid stupid woman.

Essendon need to put the club ahead of the individual now.
They must severe ties with Hird & move on.
Hird is totally consumed with himself, the damage to his clubs brand is becoming unrepairable . If it was anyone else but James Hird, the Bombers would have put this to bed a long time ago. Their judgements on this matter are clouded and hurting them. So many great businessmen running the club, yet none can work it out?

There are some rather large egos in this little spat, including Andrew D, so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out

I'm a Bombers man at AFL level Jardine so hold this issue very close to heart and am still very conflicted in my assessment of the whole saga. What your saying makes sense and could well happen. My gut feel is the club and AFL to that matter are extremely reluctant to sever ties with Hird for a number of reasons, least of all being that whilst he is an employee of the club therefore the AFL he is less likely to take legal action against both the AFl and the club both for personal damages & defamation. Legal experts predicted Hird would have obliterated the AFL's charges against him in the Supreme Court, not only opening up a massive damages bill for defamation but also exposing the lies and leaks of the CEO & Co. The media would have a field day. Work Safe Policy in Victoria would have Hird 25th in line of responsibility for any breaches that have occurred in the supplements saga, unless of course he physically injected, by pushing down on the syringe plunger, the players with a banned substance himself. That's a lot of heads to roll above him for lack of governance and breaches of Work Safe Policy and Law. Read the Dr Bruce Francis letters on the Windy Hill 4 site. His comments are valid based purely on the fact that he helped write, design & instigate Work Safe policy in Victoria. The duty of care to players actually starts first & foremost with the CEO and if he hasn't had adequate policy and plans in place under his watch across the organisation, he will have then breached his duty of care. In fairness most work places would be found lacking in these areas but it's still no excuse. The fact that AFL HQ haven't done yearly audits of clubs to make sure they have adequate OHS & Work Safe Policy in place within their organisation is just the tip of the iceberg with regards to their complete lack of diligence in complying and overseeing Work Safe Policy. A legal minefield waiting to happen. For this reason alone they will not go near the courts and must avoid them at all costs. A lot of legal jargon I know and I don't particularly agree with this personally but reality is that Work Safe Policy & OHS is where this whole saga will be fought in court before any individual defamation cases could be ruled upon. For this reason alone it would make sense for the EFC and AFL HQ to keep Hird within the organisation rather than completely ostracize him and risk court action. The EFC & the AFL have a lot more to lose here than the Hird's and I reckon Tanya understands that more than most, hence her 'recent' comments.

Like all big businesses the AFL is corrupt. Mat Rendell got SACKED for uttering the words ( i parphrase),that an indignous kid needs one white parent. YES it was a disgusting and wrong thing to say. WE all say things we regret later.

Fast forward to Jimmy golden boy, who was there and at the best "partially" responsible for the DRUG issue at Essendon affecting young kids and thier fmilies, and perhaps thier extended families in future generations to come, gets a year off on Full pay, and is right to continue his career at the "company", that is AFL.
