Can someone explain to me how Saad from St Kilda in the so called top League only gets an 18 month suspension for taking a performance enhancing supplement whilst here in the WAFL Casserley, Codswalloper, Goodwin, Fiegert have been slapped with 2 years regardless of their reasonings?
Typical weak as water decision from the AFL!

better still, how does a bloke who was charged with planning, implementing and overseeing the worst drug injection programmes in AFL history, that involved 30+ players, not even get suspended for a full year of football???

yet Saad gets 1.5 years?

If the AFL is not the most hypocritical, unbalanced major sporting code in the world today, I don't know what is. They certainly don't seem abit concerned either. They pride themselves "supposedly" on perception of their brand, when it comes to the core of it, they are fairies.

G'day Jardine, I had the pleasure of meeting the one & only Mr Kevin Sheedy a few weeks back whilst he was in WA. Being a Bombers fan since Leon Baker left Swan Districts to play for them I had to ask what he thought of the whole scandal. Sheeds is a man I think the world of, because I believe his heart is truly in the right place with regards to football and it's purpose amongst our community. His response I'm still trying to get my head around. His words , " it's not the drugs here that were the problem, it's just the bloody use of a needle". His other comments in the rest of the time I was lucky enough to spend around him left me with a deep regret that this didn't end up in Supreme Court where the whole truth may have come out ( imo the fat sleazy Greek would definitely lie under oath to protect himself ). The whole truth is something we've all been denied in the biggest cover-up in AFL history. You are right in what you say above but I now believe the biggest culprits in the whole drug scandal work at AFL headquarters and it starts at the top. My opinion only of course.

On a lighter note one can only respect Mr Sheedy with his latest proposal he is taking to the AFL of gathering all the leaders of Indigenous lands throughout Australia and have them flown to the MCG for the Bombers v Tiges game to sit in the MCC members area at the exclusion of the members on this night. Will be interesting to see how both the AFL & MCC react to this one and what a great idea. When asking the room what they thought of his idea he had 100% support, every hand raised. Integration, not segregation being the theme.

Sheeds, while I think his aboriginal thoughts are genuine,I believe, lives off the fact that he, and he alone has been responsible for the Aboriginal boys making it big in the VFL/AFL.There were many Aboriginal boys played football here in WA, and SA, way before the VFL even thought about recruiting them.
Again it is another Victorian myth coming from the Vics.Same as most great footballers come from Victoria.
There were many more trail blazers for Aboriginal players rites here in WA before Sheeds got on board.

very very true Anchorman.

I don't know how much more we need to keep on doing for aboriginal interests in regard to football. its always acknowledged at various times and I think we need to just get on with the business of football without the endless sideshows.

and yes WA always had a strong aboriginal football influence, long before Sheedy drafted a few. I think Kev milks this subject a bit. But he has been great for footy overall. But its time we just got on with the game itself, seriously.

The animosity & vitriol he displayed towards the AFL and especially the fatman was enough to have me on side fellas. His heart is in the right place, that's what matters. The idea of the attendance of the indigenous leaders was about getting the MCC on board and bringing these leaders together rather than disrespecting the rest of us. I say good luck to him.

Interesting to hear the comments here regarding him taking credit for the aboriginal boys success. In talking of Gavin Wanganeen arriving at Essendon as a 17yo he said "the kid didn't need coaching, he coached himself. There was nothing I could teach him". He talked of the genius of Polly Farmer, the brilliance of Peter Matera and the Krakka bros and even the reasons he dropped Derek Kickett infamously for the 1993 GF. Not something I agree with to this day but interesting to finally know his reason why. Never heard him once take credit for any of these individuals feats, only heaped praise on them for what they brought to the game. He's as big a fan as most of us are when it comes to quality footballers, both black & white. I for one am not going to knock him for loving the game of football, I have the same disease after all :silly:
